Charges on Lance may be dismissed
The Justice Department will ask a federal judge to dismiss the last remaining charges against former Budget Director Bert Lance after acquittals and a mistrial. Co defendants Richard T Carr and H Jackson Mullins also face dismissal of four charges as retrials cost rises. Lance, once Carter adviser, was driven from office in 1977 over finances. Mitchell was the sole defendant vindicated.
