Angler Drowns in Slippery Rock Creek
Marco V. Ciummo, 25, of Allison Park drowned while fishing in Slippery Rock Creek at McConnell's Mill State Park yesterday afternoon. His body was located around 2:15 p.m. by scuba divers from Unionville and Portersville volunteer fire departments in Center Township, Butler County, after he fell into the water about 1 p.m. Rescue crews were shown placing a net in the creek and carrying his body from the water.

A three story Detroit boarding house in the New Center area burned around 2 30 a m killing 10 residents and seriously injuring two others. Sixteen people were believed to be inside the New Wave Development building. four escaped unharmed while two were in serious condition. Authorities said many residents were handicapped. The fire was extinguished about three hours after breaking out. the cause remained under investigation.
