Five men are dead and two wounded after a day of gang violence in Chicago and a machine gun massacre at Fox Lake resort. Robert Deade of Sharpsville Kenneth Miller of New Wilmington and Donald Parkinson of Ellwood City Westminster College students were injured in a automobile accident near New Wilmington early Saturday. At Jameson Memorial Hospital they were reported in improved condition with Deade having had a fractured skull and undergoing surgery. All three spent a comfortable night and showed marked improvement by morning.

Brig Gen Herbert M. Lord longtime director of the Budget and retired government official died at home after a long illness. No physician was present. He was a Christian Scientist who sought self cure. The coroner certified death from natural causes.
