A. A. Redmond aged about 50 of Neshannock township was found dead in a shed near the barn of J. B. Elder Fayette after being impaled on a manure spreader while delivering a load. Coroner J. P. Caldwell began investigation. death deemed instantaneous. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Charles F. McCready of 301 Shaw Street, in frail health after a bout with influenza, shot himself in the head with a revolver shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday. An insurer with offices in the Lawrence Savings and Trust Building, he had not been at his office for five weeks until yesterday and, though weakened, remained at work briefly after lunch. Mrs. McCready found him dead in his room, the gun by his side. A coroner attended.
In Gastonia North Carolina on December 28 a family of five were burned to death trapped in a blazing home. A 17-year-old son, found near the scene in the family car, was accused of murder and arson. Victims named include J. M. Vanderberg, Mrs Vanderberg, Pauline Vanderberg aged 14 Toulse Vanderberg 20 Robert Vanderberg 12 Jacob Vanderberg 17 who was caught watching from the burning house.
Reading Pa Dec 28 4000 delegates to the 67th Pennsylvania State Education Association session elected officers and set a convention site. A ninth grade pupil may enter senior high contests and four-year eligibility extends to age twenty, while a student passes age 30 becomes ineligible. Large-city students in Pittsburgh Philadelphia Scranton Harrisburg Wilkes-Barre gain junior high eligibility.
President-elect Hoover and his Latin American goodwill party travel aboard the Battleship Utah toward the equator at about 350 miles daily. Hoover spends much time in recreation and rest with nine days left before taking office, while preparing to confront cabinet selections and government appointments after inauguration.
In Altoona Pennsylvania on December 28 a two year old, James Walter Paugh, son of Mr and Mrs Louis Paugh of Detroit, was killed when their parked car was struck by a Philadelphia Pittsburgh auto bus. The car burst into flames. Mrs Louise Paugh and Mrs Elmer Smith, both from Detroit, were burned and hospitalized in Somerset.
Canton dispatch reports 27 year old Wilbur Heldman charged with the murder of his 21 year old wife Margaret. Coroner T. C. McQuate filed an affidavit before Justice Donald Smyth. held for arraignment later today. Attorney Frank Sweliger said no preliminary hearing would be requested.
Iowa congressman L J Dickinson says a special congressional delegation should urge President elect Hoover to adopt a hands off policy on agricultural legislation and call a short session after March 4 to enact farm relief and tariff revisions.
