Paris dispatch reports Wilson will address American Expeditionary Forces at Pershing's HQ on Christmas Day. The speech is expected to reveal the substance of American peace aims at the conference, following praise for France in prior remarks.
President Wilson met with Colonel E. M. House and Secretary of State Lansing in Paris as American envoys move toward a general peace conference plan. He read cablegrams from the U S and planned seclusion at the Murat residence amid weather delays and continued diplomatic dispatches.
Mrs. C. L. O'Brien of Phoenix claims a national record by furnishing twelve sons to the army. Other notes report hogs abundant with steady pork prices at Chicago stock yards, 25 liquor licenses in Centre county, navy expansion, Camp Lee training ships ending February 15, shopbreak at Brandon Bros West Middlesex, Pennsy railroad women losing and later women conductors gaining permanent posts, a fatal shooting in Elk county, Boston voting to retain liquor licenses, and German control of Mexican wireless stations during the war.
London dispatch reports via Rome that the ex Kaiser intends to assume control of East Prussia soon. East Prussia reportedly plans to separate from Germany and form an independent state.
Bellefonte December 18 Lee D Smith piloting 200 pounds of mail inaugurated the first air mail run between Chicago and New York landing at State College by mistake and continuing to Bellefonte. The westbound leg resumes this afternoon with a late arrival expected in Chicago. Smith will return to New York tomorrow as Aviator Sykes plans to fly west from here.
New York December 18 The inaugural air mail flight between New York and Chicago departed Belmont Park Long Island at 7 20 am with pilot Lee D Smith leading the flight. The event marks the start of regular air mail service linking the two cities.
Severe disturbances reported at Balboa and Barcelona with deaths in both locations. Madrid reports the government has suspended parliament indefinitely as advices arrive.
A second coup d etat in Russia failed, according to Swedish reports to the state department. The plan, led by M Tropov a Russian Royalist aimed to establish a monarchial government in Russia with Grand Duke Nicholas as head.

Admiral Sir David Beatty bids farewell to the U S Sixth Battle Squadron aboard the USS New York on December 1 praising their cooperation with the Grand Fleet and urging delivery of his message to all ships and crews in the Atlantic Fleet.
Representative Mann of Illinois, minority leader, announced his candidacy for the speakership of the next House of Representatives this afternoon in Washington.
Washington December 18 A bill prohibiting the display of red flags anywhere in the United States was presented in the Senate by Senator New of Indiana. New acknowledged questions of constitutionality but said he reflected the will of the American people.
Sixteen new influenza cases were reported for the 24 hour period ending at 9 a.m. today. The total to date reaches 2,860 cases. Today’s count is slightly below the previous 24 hour period.
In Washington on December 18 Senator Knox urged the senate to oppose the League of Nations in a resolution. The Foreign Relations Committee, evenly split, postponed a final vote and agreed to defer the League and disarmament issues until after the peace treaty is signed. President Wilson continues to push the League idea in his abroad speeches.
A report from Paris cites Marcel Hutin predicting the preliminary peace conference will be held at the foreign office in January and that the peace treaty may be signed at Versailles in early June. London coverage questions what is delaying the peace parley amid holiday plans and Paris festivities.
American soldiers flood the Murat palace where President and Mrs. Wilson stay with battlefield souvenirs. A Bowie helmet and a German officer’s automatic revolver were sent from Germany by General Douglas MacArthur. All items will go to the White House in Washington.
The Boston arena, famed for winter sports and political gatherings, burned early today with losses around 100000 dollars. It was one of the world’s largest structures of its kind, seating over 4000. The cause is unknown though a lit match or cigarette may have started the blaze after last night’s boxing events.
Lieut. J. R. Sharp and his wife arrived in New Castle this morning coming from Laredo Texas. Lieut. Sharp has served in the aviation branch and spent about a year at Laredo with Mrs. Sharp joining him there.

He blames his current wife Mrs Josephine Soucier Graveline Snodgrass for his trouble and recalls a list of past marriages from one to five with limited certainty about the rest.
Rep George P Darrow introduces a joint resolution in the 65th Congress demanding punishment for William Hohenzollern and all involved in brutal wartime acts including the Lusitania sinking. It states the United States must co operate with allies to bring the Kaiser and associates to trial and forwards copies to President Wilson and peace commissioners. The measure cites the president’s France visit and public support for such action.
Two deaths occurred Monday in the family of Mr and Mrs Tony Pasqualle of Hillsville. Their two year old son Tony Pasqualle died and shortly afterward his three year old half brother also succumbed to pneumonia. A double funeral is being held at Hillsville this afternoon.

Miss Margaret Ryan of Cumberland Avenue Was a New Castle guest at a party in Youngstown last evening hosted by Mrs. A Rankin of North Street. The event honored newlyweds Mr and Mrs William Murphy. Guests hailed from New York and Philadelphia.
Paris reports German Big Bertha shelling killed 196 and wounded 417 in the last ten months of the war. German bombers killed 206 and wounded 392. The figures show Paris saw 45 bombs in 1914, 70 in 1915, 61 in 1916, 14 in 1917, and 396 in 1918.
Paris dispatch says Italian ambassador Count V. Macchi di Cellere told President Wilson that Premier Orlando will place Italy with the American peace delegation. The Paris view is that Italy and France will align to give the United States broad support when general peace terms start being discussed after the new year.
