Mrs Rose Donofrio was arraigned before Judge W W Braham in courtroom one of the Lawrence county courthouse at 9 28 this morning on a charge of murdering James Aiello her son in law Aiello 37 was killed Friday night Sept 10 as he sat in his automobile in front of the Donofrio home on South First street seventh ward She called police and surrendered and court recessed after arraignment out of respect for late county commissioner Joseph Hannon.

After 53 years in express service he retired in March and has traveled over two million miles, roughly 80 trips around the world, visiting his brother Joseph Howard and sisters Mrs. William Leddy and Mrs. Albert Jenks.

A Shanghai telegram reports that Japanese forces completed the conquest of Nanking at sunset. The city hall and central government buildings were seized while Chiang Kai-shek’s residence and war office were occupied. Japanese dispatches claim near annihilation of Cantonese divisions and surrounding Chinese forces.
In Indiana Pennsylvania five young men were injured in a crash that killed Joseph H. Lutzman, 28, of Edensburg, three months after his wedding to Margaret Klingensmith. The others from Revloc were Henry Mallin 23 Clair Seger 21 Raymond Nyland 21 John Pergrin 23 and Jon Urick 21. Lutzman died at Indiana hospital after the vehicle left the Benjamin Franklin highway.
The House prepared for a fast test of strength on the wage-hour bill as administration and CIO leaders faced off against the AF of L and a bipartisan front. The move by Chairman Mary Norton aimed to discharge the rules committee and bring the bill to the floor for amendments and final passage.
At 2 o'clock this afternoon the condition of Judge James A. Chambers of Sumner Avenue, operated on for acute appendicitis at Jameson Memorial hospital early Saturday, was very satisfactory. Dr Wayne W. Bissell, hospital medical director, said the judge had a good night and a comfortable morning.
Harrisburg reports Secretary Bashore pledged no enforcement of the 44 hour week law until the Supreme Court decides its constitutionality. The state industrial board extended enforcement to January 3, 1938, while Margiotti seeks original jurisdiction and intervention for 100 small manufacturers opposing the act.
William G. Smith of West Washington street and Dent Shields of East Washington street, who have served as temporary city police officers in New Castle, were formally elected to permanent positions by the city council. Mayor Charles E. McGrath made the recommendations. During the past year vacancies arose from a death and a resignation. Smith and Shields were the top two names on the civil service commission’s eligible list.

United States considers sending part of its fleet to the Far East after the Panay and three American oil ships were sunk by Japanese planes near Nanking. Eighteen of 72 Panay sailors unaccounted, one dead. Japan pledges punishment for the bombing.
The United States moves to demand a full apology and indemnities after the aerial bombing and sinking of the gunboat Panay and three oil tankers by Japanese forces on the Yangtze. Washington reports a navy check shows fourteen people may be dead or missing after Japanese planes bombed and sank the U S S Panay. Exact aboard count unavailable but embassy and navy records indicate at least 14 unaccounted for in the Panay sinking.
