President Hoover blasted Congress for politics at the expense of human misery and drew sharp criticism from both parties. Democrats accuse the talk as aimed at them while Republicans feel affronted over Republican authored appropriations. Hoover warned Congress faced roughly 4 5 billion dollars in potential appropriations.
Two Edenburg youths Jesse Mayberry and Ike Cameron, both 21, were killed when a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train struck their car at an Edenburg road crossing at 8 50 this morning. Fog hindered visibility and the engineer says he blew the whistle and rang the bell as the headlight burned. The train was moving about 50 miles per hour and could not stop in time. The incident was reported to have shocked the Edenburg community. The story continues on page two.
The fog hung heavy in New Castle as street and shop lights glowed. Firefighters praised the 1911 pumper while noting modern additions like an oil cooler. Clement D. Parker named president of the New Castle Kiwanis Club for 1931 at the noon meeting in the Elks Club. Installation will occur December 30 during a joint Elwood City Kiwanis dinner. officers elected include Judge James A Chambers and Daniel Reeble as vice presidents and R. L. Meermans as treasurer with several directors and a trustee appointed.
Prothonotary Ralph M. Campbell announced that the certified records in Irene Schroeder and W. Glenn Dague have been sent to Governor John S. Fisher. The governor can set execution dates at his discretion after receipt. The appeal to the Pardon Board is being prepared by attorney Thomas W. Dickey and must be advertised two weeks before filing.
A tri motor hydroplane or monoplane flew over New Castle at about 1 45 this afternoon. It appeared from the east and vanished to the northeast skies. The aircraft flew low and was seen by many locals. The three engines produced a loud roar over the city.

Frank B. Kellogg former U S secretary of state was awarded the Nobel Peace prize for 1929 for the Kellogg Pact outlawing war. Premier Mowinckel praised U S peace efforts. Kellogg called the honor the greatest of his life and that outlawry of war will come with educated opinion. Dr Nathan Soederblom received the 1930 prize.
Dr Charles J Smyser of New Wilmington was lured from his home by four highwaymen who forced him into a car and took his pocketbook along the Sharon road about a mile north of town They returned him unharmed and warned him not to tell anyone Authorities have a description of the four men and are searching for them The physician had only five dollars in his pocketbook and suspected the robbers believed he carried more money.
New York December 10 Judge Ben B Lindsey denounces Bishop Manning accusing him of inciting a riot at the Cathedral of St John the Divine last Sunday by slandering Lindsey and companionate marriage. Lindsey prepared to contest disorderly charges in court Friday.
Mrs Anna M Barnes of 320 Sheridan Avenue was injured this morning when her car slid from street car tracks on Highland Avenue near Sheridan and struck a tree. She was taken to Jameson Memorial Hospital with injuries not yet determined. the vehicle was badly damaged.

A $110,000,000 federal construction bill and a $60,000,000 loan program for feed seed and food faced Senate-House wrangling, with LaFollette pressing higher income taxes to fund aid. Borah endorsed the tax rise, highlighting nationwide calls to ease suffering.
Four bandits robbed the Inter- State National Bank in the Livestock Exchange building in Kansas City. Three entered and one waited outside, forcing 20 employees to surrender cash totaling about 50 000 dollars.
