The W P I L suspended New Castle High School for one year after league officials ruled the team used an ineligible player. Tony Ostrosky was accepted as 20 years old on birth and baptismal records from New York. Frank L. Orth, principal, presented the protest for New Castle.
Early morning home invasion in Eaton Ohio leaves Dr H Silver and his wife Lora Silver dead. A burglar entered with a flashlight startling Mrs Silver who woke the couple. Dr Silver confronted the intruder. two shots fired, Mrs Silver killed instantly.
Romance ends as Dorothy Hartzell pleads guilty to abduction and perjury after eloping with Alexander Hartzell. Judge grants three year parole upon $100 fine and costs. marriage to be annulled for fraud. Other pleas include Harris for DUI, Shira for intoxication, Vargo and O Varson for liquor offenses.
J W Bronson of New Galilee was re elected president of the Lawrence County Agricultural Extension Association at its annual meeting held Friday at the Big Beaver Grange hall on the Moravia New Galilee road. He has led the organization for five years with C B Patton named vice president H B Hoye secretary and R P Peeble treasurer. The event drew about 100 county residents for a day of sessions with Penn State specialists J R Haswell and H G Nessly speaking in the afternoon.

Residents along the New Castle Pulaski Road and feeder routes push for upgrading the highway. D L Parkman and A K Thompson organize a group to lobby the next General Assembly for state takeover and concreting the Pulaski to New Castle segment, with backing from New Castle business leaders and rural residents. In Indianapolis Hobit Dry Goods Store detectives and patrolmen ambushed four bandits aiming to cash $6009 in pay checks for Marmon Motor employees. Two bandits Otto Price and Carl Slim Kithrel were killed. Two officers, Lieutenant Roy Pope and Detective Herbert Fletcher, were wounded in the clash.
