Mrs Lenora Howe widow of Willard Howe, prominent Erie realtor, was awarded 45000 with interest from January 1928 in her federal case against Fidelity and Casualty Co of New York. verdict came after under an hour of deliberation, with 2255 interest covering policies. Howe died in a car fire on November 4 1927 near Erie on Edinboro road. A second suit for 20000 against National Life Association will open Monday.
International News Service reports a grand jury and District Attorney Lane Gardner will hear police officials from lieutenants to inspectors as they account for large bank deposits tied to graft. Directors James M. Clark Peter P. Walsh and Leo T. Coleman are among those examined as Gardner seeks ties between deposits and graft proceeds.

Riverside reports that Cyrus Northcott, 61, father of Gordon Stewart Northcott, will reveal all in the coast probe. Officials expect new disclosures as he testifies again from the county hospital detention ward about the events at the so called murder farm at Wine Ville.
Police seek identity of a 25 year old woman found unconscious near Uniontown Country Club with fractured head arms and legs and torn clothing. Authorities suspect beating and thrown from a moving car or hit and run. Nearby resident Elizabeth Close reported seeing a figure on the highway shortly before discovery.

He described luring Joey, then killing him, and said he would aid investigators in linking other child disappearances to his crimes. He awaited New Jersey officers with calm indifference.

Buffalo New Mexico December 7 one woman is dead and another dying from burns after a fire trapped occupants on fire escapes of a five story Ua Salle apartment building. The dead woman's identity was not released and a number of residents were forced to flee down fire escapes.
Automobile accidents reported to the police on Thursday afternoon and evening left four children injured, with one fatality. Clementina Ciajella, 6, of 805 South Jefferson Street, died at New Castle Hospital from injuries after being struck by a truck. Ralph Pugh, 6, ran into the street and was hit by a car driven by Carl Esposito, with Tony Esposito aiding. Louis Esposito, 6, was knocked down by the left headlight as he crossed East Long Avenue in front of a hardware store. Tony Esposito, brother of the driver, took the injured boy to the hospital for examination. An X-ray is planned to assess further injuries.
President-Elect Hoover after a goodwill voyage aboard the U S S Maryland thanks Captain Eimerly and crew for courteous care of Mrs Hoover and companions. He plans to visit Mexico on the Latin America tour and may travel to Mexico City after a rest in Florida. Continued on Page Two.
Report from Darien states that on a Boston to New York bus twelve passengers were overcome by exhaust fumes as they alighted. Passersby watched in disbelief while cold air cleared the bus interior, and several victims were led to safety. One man fainted and is not expected to live.
Clementina Carney, six, daughter of Carl and Lena Carney Carney, of 805 South Jefferson, died after being struck by a Wilder and Conover truck driven by Kirk DeLorenzo at the South Mercer and Home streets intersection. She died at New Castle hospital from concussion and internal injuries. The coroner scheduled an inquest for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Alderman Manly's office. DeLorenzo said the child ran into the street. he flagged down and moved the truck to a stop within feet. Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Vitus church with burial in St. Vitus Cemetery.
London dispatch reports King George remained stable amid heart weakness. A medical bulletin noted he slept restfully and strength held, with doctors Dawson and Hewice performing another chest examination. Optimism grew among royal circles that he would recover, though progress may be slow. The Prince of Wales is noted as hastening to the scene.
