Four Die in Auto Crash Near Franklin Tragedy Strikes Siyufy Family

In a crash seven miles east of Franklin, Mr Wady Siyufy and his wife Catherine died. their son Philip and Mrs Loretta Zahloot were injured. The Siyufys had been visiting Pittsburgh relatives and were en route to Jamestown with Zahloot after picking up Philip. The Zahloot chauffeur attempted to pass a coal truck on a curve when the accident occurred.

A car skidded, struck a culvert and overturned Sunday near Leesburg on the Perry highway. Mary Cipriano, 24, of 412 Bleakley Avenue, was trapped in the burning vehicle and died. Her parents and sister, Antonette, and passenger Victor Lombardo survived. all were treated or hospitalized for injuries.

School Board To Elect Officers In New Castle

The New Castle school board will elect president vice president and solicitor at 7 30 tonight at the administration building East Street. Daniel B Woolcock is up for his third term as president and A C Hyde will be sworn in for a new term. Dr Arthur B Foster joins the board and will take oath. The regular meeting is set for Wednesday night December 15.

Heavy Snow Blankets District With Slushy Streets

For the second time in two weeks a heavy snowstorm began Sunday morning and lasted past midnight, dropping over three inches. There was no wind and roads were not drifted though downtown streets remained slushy until the snowfall turned to frozen ice making driving perilous.
