Reports say at least 80 people perished in a terrible accident at Quebec City as a long night search continued for bodies. Rescue teams and officials worked through the dark to recover victims and assess the wreckage.
Eighteen bodies recovered from the St. Lawrence wreck where a cantilever bridge under Levis construction collapsed. With 58 dead and total deaths estimated at eighty or more, authorities expect prosecutions as survivors recall the horror and blame the builders and managers.

A man posing as Dr. W H Wallace approached local physicians Thursday asking for money to get home. Police arrested him for drunkenness. The prisoner identified as Dr W N Wallace of Callery was brought before the mayor and discharged.
Sheriff Waddington has seized the personal property of Richard Welsh and will sell it at auction on Friday September 6 at the Welsh family residence in South New Castle.
