Joseph Metts an Idaho miner was instantly killed at the Fraser Chambers Syndicate Silver Thread mine near Windermere on Saturday evening when a boulder struck him at the tunnel mouth. He ducked but was hit. partner Owen Jackson had left for Spokane weeks earlier. Metts was well liked in the district and was buried Monday at Windermere cemetery.
