Nazareth Chamber Studies Bicentennial Ties to Penn

About 42 Nazareth citizens heard George Nitzsche discuss Nazareth’s historic ties to the University of Pennsylvania and the 1740 founding era. A Bi Centennial committee was proposed to plan forthcoming celebrations and a general meeting to present concrete plans.

Potato Grading Demonstrations Draw Local Growers

About 100 potato growers attended four demonstrations in Northampton County teaching federal grade requirements. R B Donaldson of Penn State Extension explained U S grades, including U S No 1 with 1 5 inch minimum and 5 hollow heart tolerance, and U S Commercial with 20 defects and 5 hollow heart. Nazareth Chapter 252 Order of Eastern Star held its 18th annual banquet at Firemen's Auditorium Bat MYS on Oct 16 with 150 members and guests. Marguerite Kahler served as toastmistress and Lester Hawk spoke. music by Ken Brown's Royal Orchestra. Several honor guests attended including Mrs Edith Serfas and district deputies from Easton, Coopersburg, East Stroudsburg and Allentown. Cards and dancing followed the dinner.

Keller Couple Leaves for West Coast

Mr and Mrs Vincent C Keller left in their automobile for Los Angeles California where he will serve as an assistant office manager with the California Pacific Crayon Co a newly erected Binney Smith Co branch. Old Nazareth Band To Celebrate 66th Anniversary

The Old Nazareth Band, Pennsylvania’s oldest band organization, marks 66 years since its October 28 founding. Founder Edward Beitel organized 38 men in Nazareth in 1871. nine decades later members recall uniforms and leaders, with a November 4 card party planned to fund new instruments, music, and uniforms.
