A Dun & Bradstreet survey notes furniture industry revival with sharp expansion for a third year, while home furnishings spike as 1936 production reaches an estimated 448 million dollars. Steel industry utilization stands at 70 percent for the week ending June 15, up from 69.5 percent, with last year at 38.3 percent. Nazareth Terriers Split With Washington Generals in Weekend Series

Nazareth Terriers under manager Heath split a two game weekend set with the Washington Generals. Saturday’s defeat came as Lefty Russell shut them down while Burk Hart pitched well for Nazareth, with nine hits allowed and 11 strikeouts. Conover of Washington made a sparkling fielding play. Sunday Nazareth rebounded to win six to one behind Dick Garter who also homered in the second inning.

George H. Welty, a prominent local man, has been chosen for the Annual National B. P. E. to be held in Los Angeles on July 1 14 15 and 16. He will travel by rail leaving July 8 with Mrs. Welty and returning July 26.

Firemen Do Good Work at Smoke-Filled Prescott Home

Lightning struck the Prescott residence on Wind Gap Moorestown highway near Clearfield last Thursday night. Firemen arrived at 11:46 P.M., battled the blaze for thirty minutes, saved the attic floor, and returned to quarters by 1:40 A.M. Twelve men worked efficiently, with little comment, and all equipment was ready for the next call.

Evelyn Messinger Quietly Marries Saturday

Moravian congregation marks 189th anniversary services

The Moravian congregation celebrated its 189th anniversary with morning and afternoon services led by Rev. Paul S. Meinert. The sermon on Moravian Mission Work in Alaska was delivered by Rev. Samuel Gapp from Bethlehem. A lovefeast followed with greetings from visiting pastors including Rev. Gapp and others from Bethlehem Schoeneck West Side Easton and Minnesota.
