Nazareth Chapter American War Mothers schedules regular meeting Tuesday evening June at 8 PM in the Legion on South Main Street. The item highlights the town’s Proud of High School faculty and directors and notes local civic activity.
Three buses carried 80 seniors and chaperones Miss Nicholas Mr Shekletski and Mr Knecht for a June 15 excursion to New York City. They entered via the Holland Tunnel and toured Newark to the Aquarium Statue of Liberty Wall Street Market Street Chinatown and the Rescue Society Building near Irving Berlin’s birthplace as they continued the journey.
Next Sunday at 8 PM Father s Day services will be held at Nazarene Evangelical Church with Rev William H Andrews of Bangor as speaker. Fifteen fathers will sing an old fashioned selection and special musical numbers will be offered. The oldest father will receive a floral tribute. Flowers and flags requested for decoration.
The Legion Auxiliary of the H. V. Knecht Post 415 held nominations for president and other officers at the Legion Home on Friday. Delegates to the Johnstown convention were chosen with alternates named. A separate dinner at Maplehurst Inn and a baptism in Aluta are noted in surrounding items.
Mrs. Floyd A. Kocher and Mr. Robert Rodgers entertained guests including Mrs. Ellen Kocher Joseph Troutman and Victor Lilly on Sunday afternoon. Lloyd P. J. Barrall made a business trip to Allentown on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jones and daughter visited Mrs. Jones' parents Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kocher and family on Sunday.
Nazareth Terriers beat Quakertown 4 to 1 with Burkhart’s fourth straight four-bag game and Richardt fanning 14. Nazareth and Washington prepare for Sunday’s 3 PM Schmidt Field game as Beil and Werkheiser vie for early league leadership.
Nazareth Moravian Church will observe its 180th anniversary with special services on Sunday. The Rev. H Gapp, PhD DD, president of the Provincial Elders Conference in Bethlehem, will deliver the morning sermon at 10 30. An afternoon address is planned at 2 30 PM.
The board adjusts resale prices for ice cream cream mix to mirror market conditions. Milk payments for ice cream use stay at 1.48 per hundred pounds if butter falls below 28 per pound. Wholesale cream prices will rise or fall with butter market changes. Nazareth High School class of 1935 reunion set for June 20 at Dorney Park with 1 PM arrival and BYO lunch.
Beil moves to first place while Werkheiser Buss Heiney and Weiss hold steady in a close race. The Nazareth club lists candidates and addresses as the count advances. with two weeks left, many receipts remain and final positions will shift.
Nazareth High marks its fortieth commencement as 78 graduates prepare to receive diplomas in the High School Auditorium at 8 o’clock. Dr. Arthur C. James will give the address on Youths Problems Yesterday Today and Tomorrow. Salutatorian Miss Mabel Smith will speak on Footprints on the Sands of Time.
Harold V. Knecht Post No. 415 American Legion nominates delegates Raymond Weaver Matthew J. Morrow Peter Trapp and Raymond Correll for the August State Convention in Johnstown Pennsylvania. Election to fill vacancies will occur soon.
The preparatory service will be held and the Lord's Supper administered in Forks Church by Lutheran pastor Rev. George S. Kleckner on Sunday June 21 at 9 45 A M.
Rev. Paul S. Meinert and Mrs Meinert helped wed Mr H Winston Mercer to Miss Jean M Wilhelm in Boston. The bride is a niece baptized by the minister. The Dryland Evangelical and Reformed Congregation led by Rev Dr C A Butz will share Holy Communion on Sunday June 21 with catechetical class after morning worship.
Sunday at 10 30 oclock a reunion of catechetical classes from 1927 to present under Rev H C Snyder. Pastor will toll call the classes as they attend the service in a body. Flowers in the altar vases honor deceased members. Public invited to attend.
