The annual closing exercises at Bath Wolf Jr High School featured Phyllis Diehl as the high ranking student. Principal Philip B. Boliman led the program in the Firegeen's Auditorium with parents and patrons in attendance.
High academic honors announced for three year Jr High students with Phyllis Diehl as top scholar. Diplomas awarded by Sylvanus Fehnel with music by Mrs. James Schaffer’s orchestra and a Beethoven solo. Rev Paul Wert delivered a Memorial season talk, and graduates listed with Charles Alich Julius Asbeth and many others. Local families attended ceremonies and related gatherings across Bath and neighboring towns.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Band of Bath plans a Picnic and Festival on the grounds opposite the Firemen's Auditorium. A birthday surprise for Mrs. Wm. D. Worman at North Chestnut Street featured gifts and refreshments. Attendees included numerous Bath residents and relatives.
Council received word that a WPA project for sewer extensions removal of trolley rails and retaining walls along Monocacy Creek at West Main St was approved. Rev Frank Burkhardt of Sacred Heart Church, visiting Budapest and Europe, sent word of the trip and sights. Souvenir cards are posted in the school corridors for viewing by friends.
The Ev Ref Brotherhood of Bath held its regular session with Wilson Kramer describing religious conditions in the Panama Canal Zone. A July 2 picnic was approved with Bath Band music, and committees were named for publicity lighting and joint Lutheran Brotherhood plans.
Last evening at 6 15 at the Bath Hotel the Bath Lions Club hosted the sons of Bath home from college. The boys gave a brief toast to their colleges. Rev R H Helfferich was the program chairman and John E Beers presided.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Band postpones their picnic and festival to Friday evening due to a conflicting event at the Firemen's Auditorium. Bath Band will perform. A. O. Bhiffer heads the Industrial Dept at Wolf Jr High and will attend a summer course at Penn State. Eddie Patzinger, 1937 Albright College, visited with parents Alfred Pattinger and wife. Local Young Men's Democratic Club members attended the State Convention at Erie. Summer communion at Ev Ref Church was the largest in years. Prayers for General Synod sessions in Columbus Ohio as Evangelical Synod and Reformed Church finalize ratification.
Mr and Mrs Robert F Laubach of Sunnyside Bath announce the engagement of their daughter Lillian to Ray Schall son of Mr and Mrs James Schall of Chapman Quarries Lillian is a Bath public school graduate active in Christ Ev Ref church youth work and Girls Missionary Guild presidency and Mission Band teacher Ray Schall is a Liberty graduate.
