The Sons of Veterans organized in 1930 are active again in memorial services this year. The 1st and 2nd Regiments conduct observances in the vicinity to honor fallen service members.
Walter B Pitkin author and psychologist advises 1008 graduates that the real world is gained by practical work before full career aims. He says high school students should take summer jobs to feel reality and build skills, often landing paid roles through early experience.
Two weeks remain for Northampton County farmers to join the 1938 Conservation Program. County farmers are urged to enroll and contact the county Conservation office in Nazareth to list participants, with the May 20 deadline emphasized by the county committee.
A Nazareth based group holds Gardens Saturday and seeks contact with Mrs. Robin Weirebach or Miss Jesse Willaue to coordinate activities.
The Keystone Automobile Club states it is permissible and proper for motorists to pass police cars or motorcycles traveling below the speed limit if road conditions warrant it. The bulletin urges drivers to use good judgment and stay in line when the lead vehicle is police or another motorist obeying safe driving principles.
Members of the Woman's Missionary Society of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church met Thursday evening. The first Fall meeting is set for September 8 with a covered dish supper. The program included a talk titled Christ and the Children led by Clara Bauer and discussions by several members, plus poems read by Stocker Achenbach Fehnel. Mrs. Snyder presided. hostesses included Bauer Stocker and others.
Henrietta Werner daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert H Werner 119 East Center St returns from Cedar Crest College to spend the summer. She leads in campus music and serves on Crestiad staff and Ensemble and choir and plays on the class hockey team.
A group from the York Pennsylvania Moravian Church planned a Nazareth visit next Sunday but unforeseen circumstances have postponed the trip indefinitely.

Mr and Mrs Jacob Nazareth announce the forthcoming marriage of Kathryn Wirkheiser to Thomas Eugene DeReamer both of Nazareth and Bethlehem. The ceremony is set for Friday June 34 at 5 30 p m at St Johns Evangelical Reformed Church Nazareth with a reception at the Manor. Miss Lena Marcks Nazareth will be maid of honor. Bridesmaids are Mrs Dwight Streeter New York City Miss Margaret Moser Easton Miss Mae Yeisley and Miss Evelyn Cooley Nazareth. Best man Burt Sturgis Nazareth. Ushers include Robert DeReamer Leon Brong Charles Schneer and Gilbert Hellick Nazareth.
The Women’s Democratic Club meets in Shafer Hall on Tuesday June 14 at 6 pm. President Mrs Kenneth Barrall will present her report on the State Convention held in Pittsburgh May 24 and 25. Members are urged to attend to learn of other Democratic Clubs activities. County Council entertainment in Municipal Park is postponed.
Mrs Daisy Kratzer was elected noble templar of Temple No 10 Ladies of the Golden Eagle Thursday evening succeeding Mrs Nora Meyers who presided. Montgomery County District Association will be entertained at tonight s meeting in the local hall.
Liam Eberts and Gordon Feller led a Masareth High School Faculty meeting addressing In Search of Religious Liberty. Daniel Rohn conducted devotional hymns and Miriam Anangast led the business session. A church festival with strawberry and ice cream was announced for Tuesday July 12 on the church lawn.
The Tri County Guernsey Breeders Association of Berks Bucks and Montgomery counties will hold its Fourth Annual Field Day on Thursday June 16 at 11 00 AM at Fritzlyn Farm nine miles north of Doylestown Route 611 from Doylestown to Easton. A four day celebration June 18 to 21 marks the Birthday of the U S Constitution with pageants parades speeches at historic spots including Independence Hall where New Hampshire ratified the constitution. Governor Earle will tap the Liberty Belt and a 21 gun salute precedes a major military parade and aerial flyovers. Regional events are planned in Pittsburgh Erie Harrisburg Williamsport and Wilkes Barre with county chairmen coordinating local observances.
The first aid class of Vigilance Hose Company No 1 completed Monday evening with 12 graduates passing final exams. Certificates will be issued. Graduates include Raymond Eckert Walter Edelman Chester J Honts William J Honts Gordon Gold Earl Smith Mar Gonigle Homer R Miller Il Fehr John Meenale and William Lawrence. Northampton served as chairman and instructed the exam, assisted by Robert Monprode Charles Cassone and Elwood Fries.
Leaders from many states and national groups plan a four day observance at Gettysburg National Military Park marking the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. About 2000 of an invited 12000 veterans are expected to attend with Roosevelt set to unveil the Eternal Light Peace Memorial.
Mrs. Annette Brewer age 95 and her family Gardner 65 Elwood 23 and Dolores celebrate in Bangor near Ackermanville. Mrs. Brewer a Cherry Hill native moved to her son's home six years ago. She enjoys good health sews quilts and does odd jobs around the house.
Holy Family Parochial School eighth grade graduates staged a comedy sketch titled Nancy the New Cook. Dr and Mrs James A Fetherolf quietly celebrate their 52nd anniversary at their Stockertown home. He is the oldest practicing physician in Northampton County and a key figure in Stockertown’s incorporation. The couple have three children including Nazareth postmaster James A Fetherolf and Kate Petherolf who died in 1987.
Rotary Club members meet after a three week gap at the YMCA to host a Hamburg club delegation and Hamburg State Sanitarium visitors. Dr. Thomas H. A Stiles received a bouquet, Frank G. Keim was announced as new secretary, and autobiographies by Schaeffer Fehnel and Schieger are set for next meeting.
A six block tent city rises on Gettysburg’s outskirts where Civil War veterans will gather for their final joint reunion from June 29 to July 6. The Confederate camp and the Union site are nearly complete as workmen finish setup on the historic battlefield grounds.
An Ice Cream Festival will be held on the church lawn on Wednesday June 15 from 7 to 10 PM. The event is arranged by the Board of Trustees with all church organizations cooperating and music by the Nazareth Band.
Paul Lynn six year old of 129 North Whitfield Street was struck by a bicycle while playing in the street on Black Still Sunday afternoon. He sustained injuries to the face upper lip and tongue and was taken to a hospital. Officer Macy of the local police investigated.
Nazareth retailers held a regular meeting at the YMCA with Warren Dech presiding. They discussed improving street lighting in the business district and organizing a local Credit Bureau, with plans for future steps by the new group. The organization meets the first Thursday of each month.
The Sunday School class of St. John’s Ev. Reformed Church led by Mrs. Brinton Searles hosted a doggie roast on Saturday afternoon at Breidinger’s Grove on the Belfast Bangor highway. A group of club presidents from Lehigh Valley, Northampton and Monroe County gathered at the Palmerton Concourse with Mrs. Stella Ziegler as program chair. They spent the afternoon enjoying entertainments and activities including golf, badminton, bridge and hiking.
