On June 1 demand was 82 percent of normal, not exceeded since 1930, while supply stood at 99 percent, the lowest since spring 1930. Wages rose over the past two years, averaging 22.25 with board or 35.75 without board per month, and 1.35 with board or 1.85 without board per day, up about 20 percent from April 1, 1933.
