Nazareth School Board Holds Special Reorganization Meeting

The Nazareth School Board convened at Nazareth High School to seat new directors and organize for the year. William Bennett was elected president Elwood J Unangst vice president with Knauss as secretary and Schnerr as treasurer. Committees named and a district drama event set for November 11 1937. Regular monthly meetings to follow on the second Monday at 730 P M.

Edwards Silk Company to Move Plant to Oswego

The Edwards Silk Company, active in Nazareth for two years, announced plans to shut down here and move operations to Geneseo, Oswego, or nearby sites. Oswego offered free rent and tax exemptions for three years, prompting the relocation despite local efforts to retain the Nazareth plant and preserve about 80 to 190 jobs for residents.

Nazarene Church Adult Bible Class Dines Together

Over three score members and guests from the Nazareth Church School attended a real supper. Social committee chaired by Mrs. Allen Keller included Mrs. George Hahn and others. Nazareth High grid team feted at testimonial banquet

Nazareth High School football players were honored at a testimonial dinner held at St. John’s Evangelical-Lutheran Church basement. Speakers included Muhlenberg head coach Alvin Julian and Lafayette leaders E. E. Mylin and H. W. Clark. The event celebrated a 3-2-2 season with 97 points scored to 62 against, and a team captain was elected for next year.

Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce offers to mail greetings from Bethlehem, the Christmas City, with a special decorative seal on envelopes depicting the Wise Men. Post master in Bethlehem will cancel the seals as part of the service. Northampton County Dramatic Tourney Set For Dec 11

The seventh annual Northampton County Rural Dramatic Tournament at Nazareth High School selected two plays to advance to the Inter-County Tournament on December 11 at 7 30 P M in Nazareth High School Auditorium. Andante by West Worth White Society and The Florist Shop by Forks Township PTA were chosen with casts led by Harry Lichtenwalner Emma Sours Janson Hildenbrand Evelyn Bauman Mae Steckel Oscar Trach Clarence Whitehead Anna Heller Harold Bab and directed by Mrs H W Lichtenwalner and Mrs George Heller. Starlight of Peace Cantata at Belfast Church

On Sunday evening December 12 at 7 30 the Choir of the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Belfast will present a Sacred Dramatic Cantata titled Starlight of Peace. The cast includes Elias Joseph Rachel Jonas Hosea David Elizabeth and others with thirteen musical numbers interspersed by the choir.

4-H Steers Judged for State Show in Harrisburg

The Northampton County 4-H round-up selected six steers to represent the county at the State Farm Products Show in Harrisburg, judged by P. C. MacKenzie of Pennsylvania State College. Twelve calves averaging 433 pounds were fed since February with goals of two pounds daily gain. Lamb club classes also judged with 26 members feeding lambs. 15 pens to be selected for Harrisburg. Broadcast notes on feeding program and the Flory Milling Company’s involvement.

Bethlehem Christmas City plans big holiday crowds

Bethlehem, known as The Christmas City, will entertain thousands this season. The Moravian settlers first named the community in 1741 after a Christmas hymn, marking Bethlehem as the birthplace of the Prince of Peace in Judea.
