The Easton Hospital Board of Trustees works to address misunderstandings affecting county support. Officials cite past attempts to correct misconstrued opinions as key to the current status while noting county action and hospital operation costs dating back to 1900.
A test hole on the Koehler Tract just outside Nazareth borough limits indicates potentially good quality oil. Bachman stated the test appears clear and flamable with initial samples submitted to The Item Office on Monday.
The Auxiliary of Owen Rice Camp No 90 Bons of Union Veterans held an officers installation Friday evening in Eagle Hall Center Square. Elected and appointed officers include President Freda, Vice-President Eva Hess, Chaplain Pauline Huber, Treasurer Eva Bhaff et, Secretary Hattie Abel, and other posts with Carrie Hagenbuch and Lucille Fehnel among trustees and delegates.
A Christmas bazaar sponsored by the local Girl Scout troops and Brownie packs was held Saturday in the M C A. Nine booths operated by the Mothers Auxiliary Council two Brownie packs and five by various troops. The Brownie groups performed a by turn reminiscent of fifty years ago. Miss Steiner entertained with selections.
The Nazareth School Board held its annual organization meeting with all members present. Elwood J. Unangst named temporary chairman, and Wm. Bened is re elected by the President for the year. Committee picks include Buildings with Russell Snyder and Frank B Leh and Grounds with Elwood J Unangst and Robert Pauly Bennett Jr. The President serves on the Sinking Fund Committee. Regular December meeting set for next Monday evening, December 4.
An all day Northampton County Council PTA session was held Saturday at Nazareth High School under the theme Past for the Future. The program opened with music by Mrs Meyer and Mrs Batt, and featured Ernest Wilkins as welcome speaker, George A Grim addressing county schools, L Sebring speaking in the afternoon, and Mrs P Boe of Pittsburgh concluding as state PTA president.
Nazareth branch announces quota met for 1029 with total funds of 1219.70 raised. Fred Heckman reports and Mrs Heckman thanks citizens for respect and courtesy shown to captains and workers during the canvass.
At a Moravian Church supper meeting in the social rooms teachers and officers were elected including Superintendent C Jin assistant Miss G Bahneen secretary treasurer ge librarian Earl Stroi and superintendent beginner Bre Bar Stroman. The Young People League met for a covered dish social with speakers, toasts, piano, solos, and a calithumpian band by local couples.
The Y W M and meets at St. John E R Church with Mrs Thomas Knecht in charge. Members include Mrs Paul Trach Mrs Fred MacDonald Mrs Raymond Heller Mrs Paul Messinger Miss Hilda Smith and Mrs Stanley Clewell. They donate to Bethany Orphans Home as a White Christmas gift and schedule the annual party for December 15 with hostesses Miss Helen Luts Miss Eva Williamson and Miss Minnie Itterly.
Nazareth officials announced that stores will open Wednesday afternoons and on Christmas, signaling extended shopping hours for residents.

Merchants plan a 7 30 PM arrival with a float and reindeer near the borough edge. Santa will distribute at least a thousand goodies to Nazareth children along Main Broad Centre and Prospect Streets. Carols by Nasareth Choral Society and Trombone Choir follow outside The Masareth Inn. If weather blocks, event shifts to Friday December 16.
The Nasareth Choral Society presented an evening program featuring Ruth Phoh harp solos and choral numbers. Conductor Schneevelt received praise for an excellent and appropriate program with a brass choir including Chester Wunderly Charles Wunderly R F Ziegler J D Kreicher Eugene Trein Wilson Boeratler Joseph Schlegel Jr and C Seyfried. The personnel thank the public for splendid support.

The Rev. T D Gehret of Easton will preach every night next week in the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church on South Broad Street beginning Tuesday evening. Gehret speaks over WEST every Monday at 1 45 PM and will be accompanied by a group of singers.

The Merchants Association announces cash awards to Nagareth residents for the best residential lighting displays. Third prize will be awarded in each ward. The program encourages earlier displays during the week of December 19 to 34 to coincide with judging.
The Bons of the Legion from H. W. Knecht Post 415 will sponsor a movie Tuesday evening December 13 at the Broad Street Theatre. The film titled Bons of the Legion portrays a man who faces a severe trial of honor and finds redemption through the Legion chapter.
The Auxiliary of Owen Rice Camp No 20 Son s of Union Veterans will hold a meeting Friday evening December 16 at 8 o clock to host a birthday social. Members with birthdays in the past three months are urged to attend.
Troop V 79 Boy Scouts met at St John’s BE. L. Church with Assistant Scoutmaster Russell Rohn conducting an inspection, host patrol in first place, and plans set for a court of honor in Easton on December 16 and a board of review on December 8.
The Message of the Magi will be performed at 7 30 P M under the direction of Mrs William Gillies. Cast includes Mrs Stewart Eyer George Three Magi Oscar Brong Smith Charlies Shimer Beatrice Milstreas of the Castle Mrs Charles Shafer Mer Servant Hulda Lena Marcks First Vision. committees include Scenery Byron Schmidt John Hoch Clayton.

The Rural Talent Festival features Sours of Tatamy with cast Walter Pusher Mary Eilen berger Ruth Kellow Evelyn Smith Donald Houck Harrison Bau prano and Olive Kessler. Contralto Viene Lichtenwalner of Easton will attend. Plays won’t be judged against each other and a critique will be offered at the close to aid groups.
Matthew Morrow, a local Post Office employee, was awarded the Purple Heart by the U S Government for bravery and wounds in action during World War I. He served in the 37th Division, 147th Regiment Machine Gun Company, and was wounded twice in the Argonne Forest engagement. The presentation surprised him and fellow Legion Post members. The piece also notes the Rid es' Christmas party plans and local Rebekah Lodge activities.
