Richmond citizens celebrated Thanksgiving at home with families while hunters traveled to northern county camps. Local schools closed for the holiday. Edna Fox married Clayton Bath in Indiana, announced by Mr and Mrs Dayton Fox. Harry Depue built a Tamaqua bridge and spent Sunday at home. Mary Shook marked her 80th birthday with relatives. R Evans Jr and family visited in Pen, while Mrs Gordon Brown visited Plainfield Township. State road drivers were cautioned by school zone signs near the village.
A special election Tuesday decided a proposed 900000 loan to Northampton to fund temporary unemployment relief and other needs. Of 277 local votes, 125 approved and 152 opposed. Ward results show 47 yes 4 no in one ward, 41 yes 60 no in another, and 7 yes 28 no in a third ward.
The December 4 1933 Nazareth council meeting approved minutes from previous sessions and paid numerous bills. Officials discussed opening Prospect Street for Civil Works, road and pavement improvements, street repairs, and replacing two trees on Public Property. The borough also prepared to transfer funds to police and highway departments and sought state and county approvals for four civil projects while planning for 1934 officer appointments.
Temple 10 Ladies of the Golden Eagle met in regular session on Thursday evening. The Women's Missionary Society of the local Tutheran congregation meets this evening in a stated session. A Chiustpie program will be presented in connection with the agenda.
Harold V. Knecht Post 415 of the American Legion met in regular session at the M C A with Asher Kreidler presiding. Raymond Weaver will register all unemployed veterans and those in need of fuel food or rent are referred to the Pennsylvania Veterans Commission in Philadelphia. The auxiliary and the legion shared $22.10 each from a recent card party. The Sons of the Legion is being organized locally. Floyd Butz of Tatamy was named director in charge of the county group. baskets of fruit and provisions for families at Christmas will be continued this year.
Information received this morning lists the corrected items for food relief, replacing the earlier printed list on each grocer’s orders. The new order includes baking powder bread butter cereals cheese cocoa coffee condiments cooking oil eggs fish flour fruit lard meat milk soda spices sugar tea vegetables yeast and essential household supplies such as matches soap and toilet paper.
A turkey dinner and supper were served on Thanksgiving Day at the home of Mr and Mrs William Stoudt on Prospect Street. Attending were Mr and Mrs Earl Lichtenwalner and son Ralph, Mr and Mrs Raymond Stoudt and daughter Rhodell and sons Earl and Harold, William Stoudt Jr, Mr and Mrs Russell Hoch, Mr and Mrs Willis Rinker and daughter Dolores, Raymond Hoch and Miss Mildred Rohrbach.
Congratulations extend to Mr and Mrs Floyd J Wagner of Park Street Town as they welcome a baby boy into their family circle.
Circle Road Supervisor M. D. Frable directs a crew to fell a dying spruce in the circle’s southeast section as part of efforts to remove trees and trim others to improve the park’s appearance.
Rev Walter H Diehl of St John’s Reformed Church baptized Jane Lucille, daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Stull of Easton, in a local church ceremony.
A large Bath congregation filled Christ Reformed Church for a Memorial tribute to Rev. Wm. A. Helffrich D D under Louis D. Kreidler. The program featured Bach Chorale Heavens Tellings from Creation and Pilgrim's Chorus from Tannhauser with soloists Delbert Siegfried Kreidler Anne S. Cole Jean Worman Noble Rhoda and more. Reverend Kernfetter praised the late pastor as a dynamic leader and multifaceted figure likening him to biblical examples Abraham Moses and Jonathan.
John Williamson Solon Simons Stanley Renner and Walter Young were among local gunners who turned from the hunt each with a new buck deer. Gilbert Hearn of Cherry Hill shot a six point buck weighing 140 pounds. Andrew Bartholomew, 74, an old time hunter near Benders Junction, on opening day shot a 208 pound buck on his premises.
A special council meeting on November 29 discusses Civil Works funding for municipal building upgrades. Plans include a reinforced concrete floor for the fire apparatus area, a basement Comfort Station, sewer work, heating changes, and blueprints for Prospect Street Roth Alley North Main Street and Washington Park. The administrator requires detailed applications and blueprints before approval to access a $52605.00 county fund.
The Nazareth Pennsylvania School Board held its annual organization at Nazareth High School. Members present included Kern Bennett Leh and Martin with Miss Beck absent. C F Martin was chosen temporary chairman and later elected president while H H Leh was elected vice president. Elwood J Anangst and Abraham R Snyder were sworn in as directors. The meeting adjourned at 8 00 p m.
Nazareth merchants announce evening hours from December 16 through December 23, extending shopping time for customers. Store hours will be extended each night to accommodate holiday needs.

A birthday dinner for Joseph D. Unangst of Hecktown celebrated his 80th birthday with a turkey dinner on Tuesday evening. Guests included Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Klick and numerous relatives and neighbors.
Mr and Mrs Floyd Stewart hosted Thanksgiving with relatives including Steward Weiss and family, Andrews family, Belmert family, Rei mer t family, and Siegfried and Schaffer households from Jacksonville Bath Fullerton Coplay. The gathering included Edwin Lester Stella Elwood Floyd George Gladys and others from town.
A game dinner was served at the home of Mr and Mrs Eugene Johnson on South Whitfield street to honor Mrs Floyd M Butz of Tatamy who celebrated her birthday on Friday. Present were Mr and Mrs Stanley R Woodring Mr and Mrs Eugene Johnson Mr and Mrs Robert Ginther and their families Mr and Mrs Raymond Osterstock William H Woodring Mr and Mrs Butz.
Miss Marie Kroboth daughter of Mrs Johanna Kroboth Coplay and William Altemose Jr were united in a high mass wedding at St Peter's Church Coplay conducted by Rev Joseph I Theisimer. Attendant Marguerite Altemose sister of the groom and Frank Kroboth brother of the bride. The bride wore brown velvet with matching accessories and carried a bouquet of yellow roses daisies bronze chrysanthemums. A reception followed at the bride’s home. The groom a Stokes Mitchell electrician and Nazareth High School graduate class of 1929. The bride attended Catasauqua High School and worked for Dr Charles Fox Northampton.
The third annual Northampton County Dramatic Tournament debuts this evening at Nazareth High School auditorium starting at 7:30. Four one act plays compete for two advancing spots to the December 14 District Tournament at Quakertown. Casts include Harley Kelchner and Gladys Kelchner in No Sake, Five Minutes from the Station features Harry Lichtenwalner, Jan son Hildenbrand, and Kathryn Lehr, Greener Grass is by Guiding Star Class, and In Doubt About Daisy comes from the F. B. C. Dramatic Club. Directors emphasize strong character work as rural recreation under the Northampton County Agricultural Extension Service.
Fred Borger of Nazareth R 3 reports a 647 pound year old home raised porker and a 520 pound year old beef. Both animals were slaughtered recently and reflect productive farming.
The Adult Bible Class of St John’s Lutheran Sunday School sponsors a bake and candy sale this coming Saturday at the A and B Store on the corner of Walnut and Malin Streets.
Greetings extend to Mrs. Asher Brown of Upper Newburg and William Werke helser of town on Saturday, and Elmer Breidinger of Nuazarreth R.3 Mrs. Abbesinnia Back and Marton Krata of town on Sunday. The occasion is their natal days.
Belfast Sunday School in the Reformed Church at 9 a.m. Preaching at 10 a.m. The Reformed Sunday School will render their Christmas program on December 26. Mr and Mrs Alvin Babp, Mrs Robert Sandt and Paul Gandt of Forks Township were guests of George W Wentz and family. George W Wentz and family spent Thanksgiving Day at Wind Gap with relatives. Mrs George W Wentz and Evelyn and Ralph Metz spent Friday with Robi Wieant and family at Bushkill. Ralph 2 Metz, student, spent Thanksgiving holidays with his parents, Mrs Levi Pusher of Bangor.
