Nazareth Athletic Association starts its baseball season this Saturday at Nazareth Hall diamond against the Northampton Buffalos. A parade led by the Nazareth Band and Legion Drum Corps will precede the 2:30 PM first pitch officiated by Chief Burgess Fulmer.
Alvin Itterly, Director of the Poor, investigated a Moore Township family of eight living in straw with no food. The man, a former serviceman and basket maker, admitted wandering from New York and New Jersey before settling in the township. New Jersey authorities detained him as a fugitive and returned the family there.
The Dramatic Club directed by Miss Sloat will stage three one act plays in the High School Auditorium on Thursday April 20 at 8 P M after the P T A meeting. Roles are listed for The Gypsy's Prophecy The Speech of the son and daughter in slang and modern topics The Teeth of the Gift Horse and The Gypsy's Prophecy features a gypsy prophecy of telephones tennis and voting. Nazareth service clubs gathered at the Y to honor the 100th anniversary of C F Martin & Co guitar makers. Frank H. Martin and C Frederick Martin spoke on a century of business, with musicians Hyatt Berry and George Krick performing and a silver loving cup presented to the Martins.
The choir will present The Crucifixion and Ascension by Fred W. Peace on Sunday evening April 23 directed by Chas W Hess. Soloists include Lena Marks Luther Batt Walter Diehl Edward Heilman George Smith and Lester Hawk. Camp 315 P O of A held a meeting with Carrie Holland presiding and plans a bus trip to Weaverville for a district meeting.
The text announces the organization of the Sons of the American Legion for sons of members and veterans. It notes eligibility for sons of members who died in service by November 11 1918 and that charter members are joining this year. Contact Commander J Stewart Eyer to organize a Nazareth unit. About 125 churchmen gathered for the St John’s Reformed Church dinner meeting in the social rooms. J W Fetzer of Allentown spoke on Plain People, stressing nurturing worthy ambitions and illustrating with examples.
