Local residents celebrate the Lehigh Portland cement plant resuming operation Monday morning after a practical shutdown since Thanksgiving. Wilson Jones of town and Asher Billheimer of East Allen township are drawn as jurors for Civil Court during the week of May 14.
The Rev. J. B. Zweizig former pastor of the M. E. church at Chapman Quarries died Thursday at 6 45 AM after illness since returning from the annual Conference. He served here for a second pastorate and was beloved by members and friends. Mr and Mrs Charles Anangst and daughter visited Easton on Monday.
Jarry Schiff, an elderly resident of Bath, was sentenced by Judge McKeen to three months in county prison and a $200 fine plus costs for violating liquor laws. He admitted prior convictions and had agreed to a guilty plea after testimony began. Prosecution by Charles H. Rhoades stemmed from Bath residents filing complaints in a crusade. Schiff allegedly sold moonshine to a minor who testified in Bath.
Mrs Catherine Flory died Friday at her son Alvin Flory’s home in Upper Nazareth area near Bath. She was 79 and survived by five sons Emanuel Allen George Herbert. two daughters Sarah Bartholomew and Wilson Schlegel. two sisters Mrs William Flory and Mrs Lewis Kleintop, and 13 grandchildren. Funeral held at Alvin Flory’s home then Moorestown church with Rev Allen R Appel officiating. interment at Fairview cemetery Moorestown.
The Bath baseball club announces a social and dance at the Sacred Heart Auditorium on Saturday evening, April 28. Proceeds will fund club needs for the current season.
A post Lent event will be held in the Sacred Heart church auditorium on Saturday April 21. Supper runs from 6 to 8 PM and dancing from 8 to 11 30 PM. It marks the first such affair of the season.
Local notes detail visits and travels of town residents and relatives. Dr. M G Miller and Charles H Anangst traveled to Philadelphia for medical matters, while many others hosted or visited families in Allentown Bath Nazareth and Easton. A car collision near the American hotel drew attention, and plans include new evening service times.
William Paulstreth Miss Helen Simons and families from Philadelphia and Ursinus College Collegeville were week end guests at ten and Mrs W U Helfrich were present.
