Grammar School Diploma Day at Turtle Lawn Ceremony

U S Rubber Union Parley To Resume Talks In New York

The United Rubber Workers CIO said no unboundment of programs occurred and talks will resume in New York at Park Central Hotel after a lull. J H Buckmaster reported Goodrich negotiations in Philadelphia had broken down and a possible strike by July 11 looms amid wage hike demands. Plant workers in the 17,000 strong Goodrich group face renewed union shop petitions approved by the executive board.

Plan Inspection Of Recreation Field Before After Bouts

A five member committee, appointed by Superintendent Flarald E. Chittenden, will inspect the Recreation Field before and after tomorrow night’s bout program staged by Joe Telano. They will assess damage from the bouts and report whether the field remains available for future events under the agreement with Mr. Triano and the Board of Education.

VFW arranged meeting to discuss post home eviction

Arrangements have been completed for a meeting of Crusader Post VFW and the VFW Building Association officers and trustees. Lawrance Sigutti, post commander, announced the session will address the post vacating the Rubber Avenue home following the Memorial Day parade. Location to be announced later.

Adam Mengacci Honored At Stag Party By 300 In Borough

More than 200 persons attended a stag party at Marchegian Flan High Street in honor of Adam Mengacci post commander with Montanari Rado Poat Italian American War Veterans and retiring chairman of the Naugatuck Veterans Council. Mengacci to wed Concetta Gallucci June 12. Gallucci, CIO Rubber Workers union representative, was master of ceremonies. Vets from borough groups spoke briefly. Luncheon by Leo Magas and Well Casini.

Church Concert Favorably Received

A sacred music concert at the Congregational church drew a well attended crowd. Franklin D. Bristol the cellist impressed with his interpretation while guest soloists Michael DeSantis harpist Marcy Glarke tenor sang. Under Miss Else Farr’s direction the program ended with a benediction.

17th District Democrats To Meet In Beacon Falls

A pre-convention caucus of state delegates from the 17th Senatorial District will meet tomorrow at 8 p.m. at Beacon Falls Town Hall. Principal business includes electing two state central committeemen and one committeewoman with two contenders for the latter post. Agnes Proulx of Middlebury is expected to be reelected. Edward Kirby of Derby faces Joseph O’Rourke of Seymour, with William Callaghan of Seymour as the other contender. In other news, pianist Mary Lou Brann of Beacon Falls won $100 in the annual Schley shaft contest in Watertown, delivering Bach and Beethoven selections.

West Side Club Plans Recreation Program Tonight

West Side Community Club meets at Hap Brook School auditorium at 8 to discuss a year long recreation plan for all members of the family. President Wilfred Webster announced that if 160 members join, the club will cover the remaining expenses. The plan includes a meeting place for Boy Scouts and teenagers with indoor and outdoor activities. After the business meeting, John G. Mont, publicity chairman for the Nauyotuck Chamber of Commerce, will speak.

Children Catch About 200 Fish in Weekend Contest

Freqseker, chairman of the Nav istuck Fish and Game Club, estimates over 200 of the Sat fish placed in the fareard last Wednesday were caught by youthful anglers over the weekend. Children fished from dawn to dark on Saturday and Sunday. More than 100 stocked fish remain in the stream along with survivors from other stockings. Contest runs all week with registration at CFF. Davis market on Craven Street. The largest fish entered to date, a trout, measured 9.34 inches and was caught by David Ralphs of 4 Deering Lane. Entries must be registered by 5 p.m. Saturday to be eligible. Plans are being made to make the contest annual.

Beacon Valley Grange Announces Strawberry Supper Plans

Final plans for the strawberry supper to be held Thursday night from 5 to 7 in the Grange Hall will be set at a meeting tomorrow at 8 pm. Committee members include Mr and Mrs William Brush Harry Steele Mrs Albert Miller and Mrs Alfred Benson. Hassenfelt was elected president of the Pond Hill Community Club at the annual meeting Sunday afternoon. He succeeds Marion Sears, with Harry Monroe reelected vice president, Mrs Joseph Adamaki secretary, Miss Bartha Schiller treasurer, and Mrs Arthur Carriero financial secretary. High School Nine's Final Game Canceled

Naugatuck and Wilby High School baseball at Recreation Field is canceled due to wet grounds after multiple postponements. The Leavenworth game and a Saturday postponement with Ansonia were also called off. the planned Thursday finale will not be played.
