County Fair honors and 4-H winners at Myrtle Point
The Coos County Fair concluded its three day run with 4-H club dairy and sheep divisions awarding prizes. Phillip Bartlett Myrtle Point won the 4-H dairy showman award. Ernest Davenport Myrtle Point received a best dairy display trophy. Roger Barnes Coos River earned best herdman. Sheep champion Glen Daniels Gaylord took a $5 merchandise prize. Keith Foster Band on won merchandise at Perkins Drug. Poultry displays won by Junior Gulstrom Arago and Ellis Racklet. Divisions cover cattle, sheep, poultry, crafts, and home economics with multiple local winners. Races drew large crowds and a watermelon-bearing judges’ stand nonle.

Oldtimer Visits Myrtle Point From Olympic Origin
Mr and Mrs J O Secrist of Olympic who have lived in Myrtle Point for four years visited the town last week. Secrist is author of Creation Time Eternity, a bank of 200 copies given to public libraries nationwide. He came from Roseburg 38 years ago aboard a buckboard in mud and hub. The trip began 24 hours earlier and reached Myrtle Point at 3 am. Secrist is originally from Indiana.

Council Passes Budget For Year

Broadbent Logger Killed Friday at Worksite
A Broadbent logger died Friday after being struck at a logging site. The victim, aged about 32, had recent ties to Mae Pont and previously worked with a local contractor in Broadbent. The body was taken to a mortuary after authorities arrived.
