Lions Skating Rink Opens Tuesday Evenings This Season
The Lions skating rink opened last Tuesday and will operate every Tuesday night from 7 to 9 PM per chairman Jake Otter. After the business session, doctors Engstrom Cur and Frederick discussed flouridation. Two films on fluoride for children's teeth were shown. Speaker Elsie Downing, a leader among anti flouridationists, will address the next meeting at Anglers' Cafe on Wednesday evening, September 2st.

Coos County Dairy Team Dominates Oregon State Fair
At the Oregon State Fair Peagy Davenport Allen Bartlett Wayne Robison Lanny Menegat and Mrs Pioya Davenport traveled to Salem. Allen Bartlett earned the blue award for showmanship Wayne Robison won the Jr champion female jersey plaque. The group wore white and received the dairy herdsmanship trophy for the fifth time. Bartlett and Wayne Shull placed fourth in dairy judging with a team score of 734. Peggy Davenport Sandra McCue won a red award. McCue accompanied the judging team. The county herd of five Jersey cattle earned a blue award as Woodrow Robison transported the animals to Salem fairgrounds.
