The P T A Kindergarten will start Monday October 3 at 9:00 AM with registration at the kindergarten building and tuition due then. The program runs October 3 through May 1956 with possibly two classes each day from 9:00 to 11:30 and 12:30 to 3:00 taught by Mrs. Lavern Noyes.
Two 26 year old men from Remote, Junior Clyde Gemes and Norman Lee Bechtold, were killed when a single motor plane crashed into Bone mountain near Remote while circling after takeoff from the John Cawrse landing field. Both were unlicensed pilots employed by George Wilson Logging Company. Gemes leaves a wife and two children, Bechtold’s funeral will be in Eugene with family from Cottage Grove and Warsaw.
The third annual Shrine Myrtle Bowl features Linfield Wildcats vs. Portland State Vikings at Marshfield High School stadium. Proceeds aid Shrine Hospital. Pre game festivities include Shrine club, marching bands. tickets at Sempert's Drug and Myrtle News Stand Point and general admission at the gate.
City powers to cut off water or sewer service for nonpayment are outlined. The rule allows disconnection for nonpayment, barring honest disputes over bills. Oregon law notes no obligation to provide continuous supply for domestic sanitation, with authority not mandatory.
Myrtle Point and Douglas fought to a 7 all tie in Friday night football opener at the local field. Jesse Adams scored for Myrtle Point on a 25 yard run and Marlin Gasmer added the extra point on a deceptive end around. Douglas answered with Strickland and Schlach guiding a drive, but a Myrtle Point fumble halted the threat before halftime. The third quarter featured a tense standstill as both teams stalled and Douglas threatened late.
Mrs McKinley describes a continuous year round operation aimed at expanding output for shipment to numerous western and distant markets. The plan includes converting the plant to a new venture while the McKinley family keeps the business moving with hands on involvement from Miss Bee Kinley learning to run the machine.
