Mrs. D J Mitchell discovered six chickens missing from her Maple street west property after returning from a short trip. An elderly widow who recently lost her husband, she faces hardship and the act is described with sympathy toward the thief as more capable in life’s troubles.

Eight car loads of cattle left Myrtle Point and Broadbent Sunday for Portland livestock market. Owners included Ellis Dement with three cars, George Guerin with two, and Ray Dement with three. Accompanying the shipments were T D Guerin, Ellis, and Ray Dement.

Robison Relatives Hold Annual Picnic at Fishtrap

About 150 people gathered Sunday at the Robison old home place in Fishtrap for the Robison family picnic and to observe the 40th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Robison. Elder Robison relatives Frank B. Rock CC C Tena and Price 8S. Robison attended with families while Martha Averil could not travel from Corvallis due to illness. The day featured games and a noon dinner as F. B. Robison shared wedding cakes with guests.

Airplane Stunts and Football at the Fair

Earl R. Cooley, secretary of the fair board, announces Myrtle Point High will play the Alumni on Saturday morning or next week at the local field. Airplane stunts will perform over the field during and between races daily at the fair.

Visitors from across the county attended the Broadbent Grange gathering Friday evening. Two prominent members, Frank Southmayd and Frank True, were initiated into the Haymaker's degree. A fine program followed with refreshments served late.

Frost Hits Local Gardens Causing Varied Damage

Frost swept through Fairview and neighboring areas last week damaging tender plants. Corn in Fairview was injured so badly it may not mature while Melon vines and tomatoes suffered in Dillard and Myrtle Creek, though early-week melon crops fared slightly better. The frost is the earliest in years and recalls an earlier Christmas killing frost experienced in Ooos county by the author.

Erwin Nelson was arrested yesterday by deputy sheriffs at his Fifth Street home where officers found a pint of beer. Nelson appeared before Judge Mahanley in Coquille and was fined 9000.

Port Orford Forest Fire Threatens City and Timber Areas

The Port Orford fire raged near the city with flames trapping a loaded Edncoint Transfer Co. truck driver KE Semmens who sustained bandaged hands after his top was knocked off. Firefighters and residents battled to protect Gerrison lake district timber stands and Port Orford cedar while crews from Coos Bay Lumber Co. reported losses of donkey engines and logs.
