Two semi finalists from the Fall Championship flights at Coquille Valley Golf and Country Club will meet under movie lights to decide the champion. Gary Morris, 16, of Coquille, faces Bill Downing with Downing’s long experience pitted against Morris’s youth. Prior rounds saw Morris defeat Lou Holiman and Downing defeat Andy Richardson. First Flight saw Jess Barton beat Bob Krabicek and John Lauterbach defeat Dr. Robert Ley. Second Flight had Eddie Atkinson over Don Aasen and Al Hall over Cecil Carter. Third Flight matched Dale Crew against Frank Burbank after Patrick and Lina defaulted. The winner of the championship flight will be decided next Sunday. the first flight championship follows with Barton vs Lauterbach and Atkinson vs Hall. The event drew large crowds over Labor Day weekend with a new path between holes 7 and 8 and praise for the course condition as plans for next weekend and the banquet are announced.
Earl Roush owner of Thornton's store in M Point announces this week the sale of the sporting goods department to Ernie Wyld who has run Ernie's Gun Shop beside Kir atein's Market on Highway 42. Wyld is the son of Mr and Mrs Al Wyld.
