A 50 citizen meeting postponed action on whether Myrtle Point should sponsor a community swimming pool for youngsters awaiting a survey of public support. Mrs. Chester Weed named a committee including Ed Sempert and Mayor Jack Dunn to gather opinions and report back, with letters to The Herald urged from residents detailing their views.

Gary Morris, 16, of Coquille, upset Spring handicap champion Chet Noyes in the fall championship at Coquille Valley Golf & Country Club on Sunday. Homer Alford of Stanwood Washington was killed in a logging accident on Tuesday August 15 Funeral services were held in Stanwood last Thursday He was a brother of Mrs William Sullivan of Powers His wife Lois and three young children survive He was born in Myrtle Point and lived here many years before moving to Washington
