The Coos County Library Association meeting scheduled for Saturday September 11 in Coquille is postponed indefinitely due to Miss Farmer Long the state librarian being unable to attend.
Bertie Forrest of Myrtle Point now living in Marshfield wed Ervin H Sommers of Bay City. The ceremony took place Friday September 16837 by Rev Oliver J Gul at the clergyman's home. Ms Sommer, Myrtle Point High School class of 1935, later moved to Marshfield and lived there since. She is the daughter of the late Edward Forrest and Mrs Else Forrest of Broadbent.
The Myrtle Point Townsend club met Friday evening for the regular business session in Townsend hall. The group discussed Oregon's early move to amend the U.S. constitution to adopt the Townsend recovery plan and noted petitions circulating from state governors and legislatures. The club will reconvene next Sunday at 2 pm with invites extended.
Dr R H Mast announces a shift from a $40 000 Coquille hospital to planning a large Myrtle Point addition to Mast hospital. The rear residence structure will be moved to make way for a kitchen and nurse dining area. Groundbreaking for the new addition is expected within weeks while Coquille doctors build the Belle Knife hospital to replace the current facility.
The city council met Tuesday evening at City Hall with Mayor Barker and Councilmen Kring Sumerlin and Evans present. The budget committee includes Perkins Schriefer Dickson Schroeder and Mast with Lundy Linn as writers committee with doted aims for the next meeting.
A string of social events and visitors fills the week in the area. Medford hosts Mr and Mrs Trouteer and others. Portland guests include Mrs Rhode Mar shell and Mrs Myrtle Baton. extended visits span Roseburg to Corvallis as residents travel for reunions and funerals.
Mrs Daniels known as Alice Adams in Powers dies of pneumonia in a Coquille hospital. Born Canby May 26, 1921 she left a two weeks old daughter Jean Faye, husband John Daniels, and her parents O A Adams and Mrs Adams of Coquille plus sister Mrs Elwood Clarke and brother Orin Adams. Funeral held at Schroeder Funeral Home Coquille Tuesday at 2 o clock.
Audray M vs Harry L Ingre ham cites Vancouver Washington marriage on June 3 1819 with three children and asks permanent custody and 23 monthly support amid alleged cruelty. MBA vs Caddie M Amell seeks custody of a minor daughter Gwendolyn with visitation and 25 monthly support. Vivian E vs Hugh A Hamilton filed after Reno marriage on November 23 1933 and none living children seeks restoration of maiden name Barnes amid alleged cruelty.
Arthur E Hayes pleaded guilty to forgery and received a two year penitentiary sentence. Elmer Young and Alva Leo Johnson also pleaded guilty to related charges with terms including four years and six months respectively, plus parole conditions and fines. George D Roberts case postponed. other arraignments and short jail terms noted for Litter and Caruso.
The defendant in Douglas Building and Loan association versus E J Schneider and others filed an answer this week denying 28 monthly payments through June 10 1937. He alleges he requested a complete accounting and never received it and says the plaintiff allegedly agreed to rewrite the loan if a payment was made in 1936. He claims he paid 594 in December 1936 and requests E C Roberts of Myrtle Point be appointed receiver with a hearing between September 10 and October 10.
The mayor proclaims September 16 to 18 1937 as optional afternoon holidays from 1 to 4 P M for Myrtle Point Oregon to support the 26th Annual Cool County Fair urging businesses to cooperate in fostering attendance and community spirit.
A new pastor arrives to lead the local church and conduct winter services for the congregation, inviting parishioners to attend and participate in the spiritual program.
The Coos County Fair board and Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce met at Floyds Cafe Tuesday evening to finalize fair plans. They approved a ladies saddle horse race for Friday and Saturday afternoons and noted all other arrangements are ready. Discussions included inviting maximum attendance for Fair Trade Day sponsored by Marshfield business men on Thursday.
