Former Broadbent Girl Married in Marshfield Home

Bertie Forrest of Myrtle Point now living in Marshfield wed Ervin H Sommers of Bay City. The ceremony took place Friday September 16837 by Rev Oliver J Gul at the clergyman's home. Ms Sommer, Myrtle Point High School class of 1935, later moved to Marshfield and lived there since. She is the daughter of the late Edward Forrest and Mrs Else Forrest of Broadbent.

OARP Club Holds Business Session at Myrtle Point Townsend Hall

The Myrtle Point Townsend club met Friday evening for the regular business session in Townsend hall. The group discussed Oregon's early move to amend the U.S. constitution to adopt the Townsend recovery plan and noted petitions circulating from state governors and legislatures. The club will reconvene next Sunday at 2 pm with invites extended.

Addition To Mast Hospital Planned In Myrtle Point

Dr R H Mast announces a shift from a $40 000 Coquille hospital to planning a large Myrtle Point addition to Mast hospital. The rear residence structure will be moved to make way for a kitchen and nurse dining area. Groundbreaking for the new addition is expected within weeks while Coquille doctors build the Belle Knife hospital to replace the current facility.

Council Select Budget Committee Named in City Meeting

The city council met Tuesday evening at City Hall with Mayor Barker and Councilmen Kring Sumerlin and Evans present. The budget committee includes Perkins Schriefer Dickson Schroeder and Mast with Lundy Linn as writers committee with doted aims for the next meeting.

Powers Mother Dies At Coquille

Mrs Daniels known as Alice Adams in Powers dies of pneumonia in a Coquille hospital. Born Canby May 26, 1921 she left a two weeks old daughter Jean Faye, husband John Daniels, and her parents O A Adams and Mrs Adams of Coquille plus sister Mrs Elwood Clarke and brother Orin Adams. Funeral held at Schroeder Funeral Home Coquille Tuesday at 2 o clock.

Multiple Guilty Pleas Lead to Prison Terms in Local Court

Arthur E Hayes pleaded guilty to forgery and received a two year penitentiary sentence. Elmer Young and Alva Leo Johnson also pleaded guilty to related charges with terms including four years and six months respectively, plus parole conditions and fines. George D Roberts case postponed. other arraignments and short jail terms noted for Litter and Caruso.

Douglas Building and Loan v Schneider seeks receiver

The defendant in Douglas Building and Loan association versus E J Schneider and others filed an answer this week denying 28 monthly payments through June 10 1937. He alleges he requested a complete accounting and never received it and says the plaintiff allegedly agreed to rewrite the loan if a payment was made in 1936. He claims he paid 594 in December 1936 and requests E C Roberts of Myrtle Point be appointed receiver with a hearing between September 10 and October 10.

The Coos County Fair board and Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce met at Floyds Cafe Tuesday evening to finalize fair plans. They approved a ladies saddle horse race for Friday and Saturday afternoons and noted all other arrangements are ready. Discussions included inviting maximum attendance for Fair Trade Day sponsored by Marshfield business men on Thursday.
