Barzee, who hoped not to reach his 101st birthday, died Friday in Coos Bay at Bay Area Hospital two days after admission. Born near Salem in 1875 he moved to Myrtle Point in 1980 with Jennie Lenover after their 1903 marriage. The couple farmed on Gravelford Road and raised chickens with nine children, 36 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
An accident near Krantz's home in Eugene left the 10 year old with head wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and remained in intensive care in critical condition. Krantz is the son of Dr and Mrs Jim Krantz of Geaverford.
Coos County commissioners in regular session reviewed forming a statewide Health Systems Agency to coordinate health planning and services. Henry Hansen and Waldrop were named to a steering committee. Nansen of North Bend answered questions about the agency and the MSA, replacing the previous regional program. The board also discussed the Indian cemetery at Cage Aingo Lighthouse Way, rejected a bid for county property appraisal due to a bid error, and tabled a resolution on federal land jurisdiction.
