The Interchurch Fellowship organizes a 1971 UNICEF event at the Coffee House led by Mrs. Dayton. Trick or Treat workers collect at 6:30 p.m. Saturday October 30 with a Halloween coin-counting party to follow.
Charles B. Gill Jr of the State Accident Insurance Fund will speak at the Coos County United Good Neighbors Victory Banquet in Coos Bay. The event includes a social hour at 7 p m and dinner at 7 30 p m, with a fundraising goal of 165000 hampered by strikes and wage freezes.
Myrtle Point Lions Club announces an all out drive on November 3 to sell electric light bulbs and accessories in a house to house campaign starting 6 p.m. The club offers an eight pack and a two pack with bulb sizes 40 60 75 100 and 200 watts. Proceeds go to the Eyesight Foundation for local aid.
The Myrtle Point High School Vocal Music Department presents a fall concert titled Come Alive on Wednesday Nov. 3 in the MPHS cafeteria under Harvey Harms. The program includes the mixed chorus girls chorus mixed ensemble and girls ensemble plus seventh and eighth grade chorus with Valerie Hutchinson on guitar and Grady Eddins on electric bass. The groups have already performed for local organizations and churches.

Donald A Layman 27 and Ray E Layman 23 were jailed on felony assault charges after a disturbance at Club Lehua that injured Myrtle Point Officer Barry Holmes who received three broken ribs. The brothers were later released on bail after arraignment in Coos County District Court.
