The funeral for Jerene Burgess Venard 33 of Los Angeles Calif was held Tuesday at Schroeder Funeral Home with Rev Wilmer presiding. Interment followed at Sunset Cemetery Coos Bay. A Myrtle Point High School class of 37 alumna she is survived by her husband two sisters and by her mother Mrs Albert Britton of Langlois additional relatives include Mrs R E Powrie and Mrs M J Randleman. Parents Mr and Mrs Chas Venard attended.

USC alumni and Oregon State alumni and friends will view a film of the controversial pass in the USC Oregon State game. Funeral services for 81 year old Orison W Hutson were held Wednesday at Schroeder Funeral Home in Echo Valley with Rev Conklin officiating. He died of a heart attack at his daughter Mrs Herman Rudy’s home Monday of last week. Burial followed at Norway Cemetery. Survivors include wife Pearl and son H B Hutson of New Orleans.
Merchants in Myrtle Point promote a free picture show at the theatre starting at 2 00 p m followed by a band concert by Ceskcett in the town’s Bargains Galore event. Tickets and prizes offered with purchases at local stores including Brewer’s Western Auto and Moller's. A church basement gathering is listed for 30 p m with transportation details noted.

Myrtle Point Bobcats travel to Coquille Friday to meet the Red Devils in a non district game. Coach Bunnell hopes for a surprise win as the Reds are favored. Junior Varsity hosts North Bend Thursday at 7 PM here, with a bonfire rally planned for 7 PM at Fourth and Maples.
