Equal Pay for Equal Work in Oregon 1955 Law
The 1955 Oregon legislature enacted an Equal Pay to Work Law to guarantee women wage earners the same pay as men for equal work. Bureau guidance explains that absences or production differences do not justify sex-based pay discrimination, and seniority-based differences are allowed if applied equally to both sexes. For questions write Commissioner Norman O. Nilsen, Salem.
