Myrtle Point Plans Pool As High School Voters Rally

Myrtle Point residents and high school students gathered at city hall Monday evening to back a proposed swimming pool adjacent to the high school. Officials estimate a 42 by 78 foot pool with 28 feet of deck costs between 125000 and 175000, depending on materials and use of existing dressing rooms.

Lions Host Governor Hatfield Social and Fundraising Events

Lions announce a Governor Hatfield visit with a social hour and dinner at Coquille Valley Elks Club on November 5. Attendees include Lions, wives, and guests. A violin concert by David Rubinoff is set for October 18 at Myrtle Crest auditorium. Funds raised by a November 1 globe sale aid the blind, with a November 15 TB clinic and three work parties to fence Rotary Park tennis court and install nets plus night lighting planned.

Coast Hand Weavers Guild Formed In Coastal Cities

Mrs Roy Barnhart of North Bend elected president of the Coast Hand Weavers Guild formed by women from Myrtle Point Coquille Bandon Coos Bay North Bend Reedsport and other towns. The group aims to provide a meeting place for weavers exchange ideas and help new hobbyists with rotating meetings among represented towns.
