Dimout Rules In Coastal Areas Are Modified
The Western Defense Command in San Francisco announces changes to dimout regulations effective last Sunday. Areas more than 15 miles inland from the coast are exempt from interior lighting restrictions, while auto headlights and traffic signals become unrestricted. Exterior lights and signs retain some limits in thin coastal arcs. signals and headlights may be used at full power outside sea visibility, with shielding required for all lights. Winter applies 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise.

Local airman to return on extended leave this week
Technical Sergeant Robert Lundy, aerial engineer aboard a Liberator, will finish a two year air force stint in the south Pacific with a 40 day leave starting this week. He phoned his parents from Hamilton Field California after a letter arrived from him reporting his extended leave and combat decorations. He has served since October last year and seen numerous sky battles.

A carload of myrtlewood keel blocks shipped today from the Myrtle Point depot to San Francisco by Sullivan & Ward milk operating in the Arago area. The blocks, used in shipyards, have kept the local mill busy all summer. Myrtle logs are now trucked from Remote to the Coquille mill via the Lawrence Jennings place.
