Training Sessions For Coos Leaders Held This Winter
A series of district recreation leadership training meetings will be held in Coos County this winter. The first session takes place Tuesday Oct 18 at 8 pm in the Marshfield Salvation Army hall, teaching floor games. A second session follows in Bandon Oct 16 at 8 pm in the grade school gym. The Oregon State College Extension Service sponsors the program led by Miss John Jensen with Mrs Dorothy Bishop organizing. Open to anyone interested in learning to lead recreation or seeking new group ideas.

The Mountain States Power Company moved William R. Pook a service man to Myrtle Point to respond immediately to power interruptions. Mr Peck now resides at the Sumerlin home and answered two calls Tuesday night for restoration of electrical service from Gravetford and the Ernest Clauvan ranch at Broadbent after Saturday disruptions spurred local citizens to seek on site service.

Former Residents Celebrate 55th Wed Anniversary
Mr and Mrs R A Easton of Ashland celebrated their 85th wedding anniversary at home on Friday September 20. They reported to their son T S Easton in Sitkum that they received many letters and cards from Coos county friends. The event mirrored Easton’s birthday and featured a large cake from a local store and flowers from the DAR. The Ashland Tidings noted Ms Easton as an early Wellesley student and recalled attitudes toward women’s education. The couple moved to Coos county in 1896 and have lived in Ashland for 14 years.

About 250 people gathered at the Myrtle Point Methodist church last Sunday evening for a union service organized by five local churches. Rev. C Barr of the Church of the Brethren spoke forcefully on Dare We Forget God urging a return to the Bible Sunday and stewardship. Special music featured Harry Rankin Frederick Dallas and Dele Rice with chamber accompaniment. Over 2300 high school boys in vocational agriculture competed in a southern Oregon district event.
