Ventilator Accident Damages New Home Near Klameth Falls

Myrtle Inn Beer Find Leads to Jail Action
Myrtle Inn rooming house was searched by state and county officers with a warrant. A quantity of beer was found in the kitchen while the license holder James Montgomery was jailed on liquor charges. Vera Clark, formerly in charge, was arrested and held on bond set at 500 dollars.

Firemen Battle Fire Near Myrtle Point Nearly Two Days
Firemen from Myrtle Point fought a long blaze from Sunday morning to Monday noon using a pumper bought with their own money. Water came from Rock Creek and the Middle Fork as 300 feet of hose kept the flames in check. Losses included Sweet Lumber about 60000 dollars Roy Neal’s son around 40000 and Mrs Christian, with seven trees still blocking the Myrtle Point to Roseburg highway.

Myrtle Point Man Killed in Coos Bay Lumber Camp Accident
Harry Victor Norris of Myrtle Point died instantly near Cunning ham when a sapling sprung back after a cable broke striking him in the back as he moved to run with a crew under Floyd Eaton. Funeral held Sunday at 2 in Myrtle Point with Rev K. Ostrander in charge. Norris, born November 26, 1872 in Ohio, had moved through Nebraska and Washington before settling in Coos County in 1884 and working in logging. He is survived by his mother Melissa Norris two brothers and five sisters with many relatives in Nebraska and Washington.

Library Board Sees Busy October Meeting
The Myrtle library board held its October meeting with four members present. New member Mrs. E Hamilton attended for the first time, succeeding Mrs. Belle Whitaker. Reports showed rent books at 45 dollars for adults and 81 for children, magazines performing well, pay books at seventy cents, and leverdwe books at 365 dollars. twenty four late books were ordered and thirteen new application cards issued. Plans after vacation focus on fundraising to acquire new books this year.

Death notice for Reuben Gray in Spokane Washington
Mrs W H Taylor was informed of the death of her stepfather Reuben Gray aged 69 born near Graysville Ohio. He died in Spokane at 6 45 p m October 2 of double pneumonia after hospital treatment and had recently returned home to a ranch near Myrtle Point before illness. He is survived by five children including Pearl Parlet of Spokane and Ben Gray of Spokane with other relatives. Burial was in Spokane.
