Public expected to attend a Union Carry On convention with about sixty visitors. Program includes Welcome by Rev Ostrander and multiple conference periods, music, lectures, and reports, ending with a Sunday service and Benediction.
The Myrtle Point docket reports a vagrancy jury returning a guilty verdict with recommendations in a case against Jebuson. Judge Dodge may impose a $15 fine if he works or leaves town. Another vagrancy case against T A Johnston yielded a hung jury after long deliberation. District Attorney Coleman and Jepetten represented the state and defense respectively as jurors and witnesses were listed. This marks the first local vagrancy case heard in Myrtle Point, stirring public reaction.
Dogs that bark through the night are blamed as bad citizens. A man allegedly abducted two dogs and dropped them into a city reservoir. The animals fledged to be rescued after communities complained of a water-odor incident. Debates over fault and possible rewards rise at city council.

L. Bargett writes from Venice California about a gathering of former Coos County and Curry County residents at Bixby Park Long Beach. Attendees include M yr tle Point Coquille Marshfield and North Bend natives listed with current cities, and a generous purse was raised for Mrs Franne Dixon in appreciation of her hospitality and efforts.
Miss Helen Russell broke a bone in her foot on Saturday and will use crutches for a month. Her sister Miss Mildred will assist at the grammar school while she recovers. The hike with the campfire girls caused the injury, and no long walk followed the accident.
The Myrtle Point church welcomes new pastors from Coquille North Bend and Marhéeid as Rev I Kirby Rev C G Meiris and Rev Grace Driver join a regional reorganization. Rev Omer Idso departs after six years guiding services and growing membership and the new church edifice on the former site stands as a testament to his work.
George Dickinson leads with the largest catch as anglers on the coast rivers report good fishing in recent days. Dickinson hauled 19 inch salmon trout and a one foot fish near Norway. A. C. Chase and Dickinson also landed a yard long fish and others from 12 to 20 inches at the same spot. Mr and Mrs C E Huling returned from eight days on Rogue river with Mrs Huling weighing over nine pounds on steelhead and Mr Huling claiming daily catches including nine on the last day. Cops and Carry counties are noted for top all year fishing as big girings arrive.
The Coca county Pomona Grange will meet the Coquille Grange on October Sth in Pioneer hall basement of Pioneer church. Election of editors is planned and arrangements for joint installation of all Granges in Coma county will be made. The L 4 8 club met last Thursday at the home of Mrs Jehan Le Mie.
Governor Pathwsen announces 1920 highway plan with 96 471 298 dollars for new construction and a 500 000 emergency reserve. He cites 1 983 000 spent in 1960 and projects 8 900 000 for 1961 with a gasoline tax and car fees funding the program.
