Wind storm lashes Myrtle Point area causing major damage
Late Sunday into Monday a powerful wind storm ripped through Myrtle Point and surrounding areas with gusts up to 145 mph at Cape Blanco. Many roofs, barns and buildings were damaged, utilities failed, and district 41 schools closed as crews repaired power and phone service. Insurance agents filed numerous claims, including 65 wind damage filings at C Dyan Mason agency, with losses estimated between 30 000 and 50 000 in the city.

They uprighted campers, removed a trailer stuck on a root wad, and donated logs to the gun club.
