Bert McCloskey Pioneer of Coos County Dies at 82
Funeral services for J H Bert McCloskey 82 of Myrtle Point were held at Schroeder's mortuary. He born February 19 1877 at Gravelford and moved to Norway 1882 later ran creameries and cheese factories, represented Coos County in the Idaho legislature, and held memberships in IOOF BPOE and the Myrtle Point Lions. He died at his home Monday afternoon. He is survived by wife Sarah and a sister Minnie Lester.

Coquille and Myrtle Point played to a 13 13 tie in a high drama district finale at Spike Hie Stadium. Myrtle Point rallied early but Coquille answered with three straight runs and a late 7 yard pass to Simpson. A final stand by Coquille preserved the draw as Jim Brodie blocked the potential extra point and an interception sealed the tie as the 3A 2 standings show Coquille 4 0 1 and Myrtle Point 3 1 0.

Thief Steals 311 From Myrtle Point High School Safe
Over the past week end a thief or thieves forced entry into Myrtle Point high school and stole 311 from the safe. Superintendent Hubert Armstrong says the job appears professional as the safe was unlocked. Insurance covers the loss, and police with a fingerprint expert continue the investigation, with no evidence yet disclosed.
