Armistice Day Observed by Local American Legion

The remodeled American Legion hall on Ple and 7th streets hosted Armistice Day activities for Myrtle Point Powers Coquille and nearby areas. Judge Dal M. King and Ray Jeub gave speeches on world order and Legion achievements. Walter Krouger presided. breakfast featured sausages eggs and coffee served by volunteers. Mayor Jess Clinton welcomed visiting Legion members and a six-man soldier detachment attended before a football game in the afternoon.

Farm ditching planned by Union High students

The Union High School Agr iculture class will plan a drainage system for A R Davenport farm. Students visited the site last Friday to level ground and are now compiling data to determine the proper system and total cost. Home Electric Course To Begin At Agricultural Shop

A six week home electric course for women starts Tuesday Nov 17 at the Agricultural shop. Marion Ward will teach with Ted Kirach supervising Rural War Production training. Men may attend. a certificate will be issued after the six sessions concludes.

Drowns In Ditch Near His Home Erik Dement

The Myrtle Point community mourns Erik A Dement age 2 years 7 months 2 days after he wandered from his South 6th St home with companion Jerry Peele and fell into a ditch after recent rains. Despite first aid and efforts by family neighbors and Dr H B Thomas the boy died. Funeral services were held at Pipe organ Methodist church in Co ule with interment at Norway weet in Pacific Serire.

First School Started By Binger Hermann In 1857
