James Nichels co owner of Nichols and Peer logging outfit died after a dislodged leg injury at the camp north of Lee Wednesday. He was taken to the hospital but died. Body sent to Sedro Woolley for funeral services. survivors include brother Charles and sister Mrs Edward Poor. His wife reportedly died in a Reedsport fire months earlier.
Members of the Coos County Firemen's association will meet in Myrtle Point tomorrow night. President Frank Schram says a program is being arranged by local members and the meeting will be held in the city hall.

Sr. and Mrs. V Fb Landatrum of Sacramento left Wednesday for home after visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Carver for ten days. Mr. and Mrs. Magene Bartlett and Ben Breuer traveled to Weed, California last week.

Myrtle Point will host Bandon Sunday at the Fair Grounds in the Western Oregon Baseball League. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. after rain forced the opening game cancellation at Reedsport. Coquille led Powers 5 to 3 in the fourth when that game was halted.

Casper Gasner sold his 14 acre place on Gravelford road last Saturday to Chester Shining and left this week for Gold Beach to visit his daughter Mrs. Adrian Schroeder. Mrs. Gasner died a few months ago.

County court and agricultural leaders from Covoe county attended a gorse control field day on an experimental area at the W. J. Sweet ranch between the Sixes and Rik rivers in Curry county. The program highlighted a $1600 county funded budget for control work this year with a request for similar funds for 1946 47 to be made in June. The event ran from 10 a m to late afternoon and lunch was served by Waisen of the Sixes Grange.
Coos Bay golfers defeated Coos Valley players on the greens last Sunday. Ed Bacon shot 72 and Rennerep finished with 78 as Coos Club claimed the victory over Med fhe Helters at the Coos County venue.
Dwain Miller son of Miarra L. Roger of Myrtle Point has been moved by ambulance to Portland for further medical care after an autos accident near Norway. His two companions Edward Bretton and Leland Francis Allen were killed. Owain has shown slight improvement but remains hospitalized.
