State Grange to Meet in Myrtle Point this Year

High Standing for Eighth Grade Examinations

Nineteen students who took the eighth grade exams achieved an unusually high standing. Despite a year with many illnesses in the schools the district is gratified by the strong showing and success of the pupils.

Goodwill Picnic For State Grange Convention

Decoration Day Observed With Ceremonies at Myrtle Point

The Myrtle Point ceremonies honored Civil War veterans and local service members. Attorney Dale King spoke of those buried at home and abroad while American Legion and GAR members led a parade and firing volley. Graves at Myrtle Point and Norway cemeteries were decorated.

Holloway Ranch Bought Near Myrtle Point by Norris

Ernest Norris, a Dunham grocery salesman, purchased the C. B. Holloway eight acre ranch on the North Fork road at the city edge of Myrtle Point. The sale includes a cow, chickens, garden tools and house furniture. He plans to move to Arizona with his two daughters, while Norris will rent the property he just bought.

State Grange convention set for Myrtle Point in June

Woman's Club closes work for present year at city hall

The Woman's club held its last meeting of the year at city hall with Arago hostesses. A full annual report from all departments was presented, showing strong progress and plans for next year. Officers elected: President Lucy Barker, vice presidents Nellie Fearnley L Linn, secretary M Earl Wilson, treasurer Elmer Russell. Paula Breuer and Kathryn Hamilton provided musical interludes.

Fire destroys cafe and City Transfer building in Myrtle

A late night blaze heavily damaged the Velkmar building and the City Transfer facility in Myrtle. Fire crews, aided by Coquille, controlled the flames with several items saved across the street. The blaze started in a rear open area known as no mans land, with damage deemed beyond repair to the structures.

Arago choir members and friends shared a dinner at the city building last Sunday. About forty attended and everyone reported an enjoyable time.
