Graduation Exercises Friday At Myrtle Point High School

The 1039 class of 55 graduates were honored in the Myrtle Point High School auditorium with Dr Victor P Morris of the University of Oregon delivering the main address on the value of education. Salutatorian Verlin Hermann and valedictorian Rodger Barklow led remarks, while P Linn awarded top honors to Barklow and Helen Ree. The ceremony included a Girls High School chorus, diplomas, and torch honors for outstanding seniors. many students listed received diplomas and awards for scholastic achievement.

Car Jumps Grade Lands in Creek Near Bancroft

Mr and Mrs 70 Little were returning from Coquille to Bancroft when their car missed a turn and struck Myrtle Creek about half a mile north of the A L Rice ranch. Both occupants escaped with only minor scratches.

City arrests two men on May 25 for license and seating violations

Martin Gasser of Morway was arrested Monday May 25 by State Police for allowing more than three people over 12 in the driver seat. He pleaded guilty and was fined with costs. Berett Ward of Catching Creek was arrested Monday May 25 by Constable Bert Pearson for operating a motor vehicle without a license. He was fined five dollars and costs.

Catholic School Starts Monday in Myrtle Point

Sister Aurelia Ann of Marshfield and a Holy Name sister will lead a week long religious school at Myrtle Point Junior High. They stay with Mrs Frank Young and welcome calls for more information. The program targets local Catholic children with instruction and playtimes for younger kids.

Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce met at Hamm's Cafe to discuss closing the town for the Coos Bay Bridge celebration and promoting countywide participation.
