Arago High School Graduation Held May 19

Graduation exercises for Arago High School were held in the gym on Wednesday evening May 19. The program featured proessional, salutations, class will, prophecy, and musical numbers. Eighth and high school diplomas were awarded, followed by a reception at the H E Watkins home.

Octogenarian dies at Myrtle Point Tuesday

Mrs Almira Davidson 80 year old resident of Myrtle Point died at her home Tuesday evening after a weeklong illness following a stroke. Myrtle Point Clerks Discuss New Laws At Meeting

Myrtle Point clerks met Monday at the city wall to review annual reports and records. W H Wann assisted with reports and the group discussed legislation affecting school districts including bus supervision, voting privileges for rural families, and county superintendent duties during consolidation years.

Arctic Expedition Led by Difford J McGregor Aboard Greeley

Meteorologist Difford J McGregor of the Weather Bureau in Newark New Jersey will head a 16 month Arctic expedition aboard the three masted schooner General A W Greeley. The voyage begins late June and aims to study and record northern weather conditions in the Far North.

Examiner Urges Carly Renewal Of Licenses

Fifty drivers were granted licenses last Thursday May 20 at the city tally according to Ward McReynolds state examiner of operators and chauffeurs. Ten applicants failed the written Oregon motor laws or driving test and were urged to study for the next test to be announced later. McReynolds urged all drivers to renew promptly to avoid a last minute rush. Renewal blanks and the 18387 Operators Manuals are available at The Herald office.

Postmaster Plans Daily Bay Mail Between Marshfield and Myrtle Point

Postmaster Elton Schroeder and TC 19 study a new Railway Mail schedule to add a daily Marshfield Myrtle Point mail run. The proposed plan would have Myrtle Point to Marshfield departure at 8 30 am with a 1 30 pm arrival, enabling an afternoon reply and delivery by 6 pm. The change aims to improve service beyond the current once daily schedule.

Townsend Pension Club Holds July 4 Picnic Program

Eight members of the Myrtle Point High School track and field squad will receive letters at the senior program Friday morning at the school. The awardees are Robert Beoni captain Ray Nerheupe and Roy Dejayne Beon Furman and Gam Dement.

Division of Eden Valley School District Boundaries Finalized

The district boundary board on Monday decided to assign sections 1 to 5 and 8462 between Rock and Wooden Rak creeks to the Bridge district, ending a dispute with Powers over apportionment. The original petition came in January, with Bridge seeking more areas and Powers silent. May 10 saw Coos Bay Lumber Co oppose, citing tax implications while a 331 mill tax in Bridge and 72 for Eden Valley shaped the final split adding Powers district realty valued at $234,530 and Bridge at $113,700.

An elderly woman, Mrs Mary Johnson aged around ninety, has been seriously ill with influenza since early January. This week she is reported as up and around again, though still convalescing as rapidly as could be expected.

Sunday Fire Causes Minor Damage at Hazelwood Home

A Sunday fire from a burning flue at the Frank Hazelwood residence on Seventh Street caused minimal damage. Falling embers burned four shingles before the blaze was extinguished. Mrs. Hazelwood activated the alarm, and no injuries or serious damage occurred.

Christian Church Organization Meet in Cove County

A county Christian church gathering was held Tuesday night in Myrtle Point with Howard Hutchins of Oregon C as the keynote speaker. A general committee including Gol Atestre and F D Smith was named to organize a picnic for July 5 for the Christian churches of the county.

Henry A. Schroeder and Sons of Myrtle Point secured a contract to furnish 24 new auto cabins at ld Beach. Tom Gurney placed the furniture and laid linoleum after visiting last Tuesday. Harold Guptill helped set up Flame ranges in Gold Beach, returning to Myrtle Point Saturday. The City Transfer Line delivered half the furniture to Gold Beach and the other half last Thursday. Dairy Products Improvement Meeting At Lundy Hall

Dr Gustav Wrilster of Oregon State College and A W Metzger of the Commerce Department spoke on quality dairy products and marketing last Thursday night in Lundy hall. The talks covered cleanliness on farms, standardised products, and the role of advertising in creating clear product definitions.
