Grand jury to hear multiple cases in action news

The grand jury in Marshfield will hear Preston Packwood 21 and others on charges from larceny to contributing to delinquency. Alicen Richards death scene is noted. Grace Coombs 14 and Maudie Miller are among those summoned. The trial jury meets June 3 or the first Monday in June.

Couple returns from California as mother dies

Rev and Mrs W A Couden returned Tuesday evening from Gates California where they were called the forepart of last week by word that Couden's mother was dying. Mrs Charlotte Couden, 95, passed away Monday evening before they reached her bedside. Funeral services were held there last Thursday.

Roof Fires Cause Minor Damage in West Myrtle Point

Two roof fires in West Myrtle Point caused minor damage at the E S Hemmack residence and the home of Mr. Minnie Kroeger Friday. Residents extinguished the flames themselves with no injuries reported.

Baccalaureate Service Held for Myrtle Point Class

The 1935 Myrtle Point High School graduates attended a baccalaureate in the Methodist church Sunday night. The service featured Rev Lerter Ginron and Rev R C Young delivering sermons, choral offerings, scripture readings, and musical selections by Mrs O H Clarke. The church was decorated with calla lilies and greenery as the class proceeded in caps and gowns.

North Bend Takes Track Meet With Narrow Margin

North Bend secured first with 35 points at the Far Grounds meet last Saturday led by MP Second Smith who won the 100 and 220 yard dashes the 120 yard low hurdles the broad jump and the relay Bonnikzen of Myrtle Point matched Smith by winning the mile half and quarter miles and contributing to the Myrtle Point relay win Myrtle Point finished second with 33 1/2 points Marshfield followed with 33 points and Coquille 17 with Coos River 16 1/2 and Bandon 11 1/2 completing the standings

The Myrtle Point High School 1935 graduating class was feted at a banquet at the Jack and Bill cafe hosted by mothers. Seating for 40, black and silver decor, rose bouquets, black candlesticks, and mint dishes set the scene. Norway Youths In Sunday Crash Injures One

Fred Schmidt son of Mr and Mrs M M Schmidt of Norway suffered cuts and bruises when his car crashed with Cecil Snyder's on the Myrtle Point Coquille highway near Myrtle Point early Sunday. Schmidt's car left the road turned over in a swamp and sank. Snyder's car had a damaged hub cap. Schmidt was taken to Mast hospital.
