Myrtle Point School Board cuts 1965 66 budget by 48350

Myrtle Point school leaders reduced the 1965 66 budget by 48350 in a three hour session, bringing the total proposed levy to 646672 with bonds and exemptions, and setting a June 2 election at local schools. The cuts touched administration, MR class, summer reading, health exams, maintenance, and tuition.

Maple and Spruce schools budget cuts approved

Maple and Spruce elementary budgets were trimmed after discussions on blinds, cafeteria tables, and staffing. The board kept a full time principal at Maple and Spruce, rejected salary cuts for teachers and administrators, and final cuts totaled 48 360 dollars after two reviews.

Police Nab Two 17-Year-Olds In String Of Thefts

City police held two 17-year-olds in custody and later handed them to state authorities amid inquiries into three thefts. An 18-year-old in jail disclosed a pistol was passed to a younger boy who aided in smuggling arms from Dora. Police linked items stolen at Raymond Cotton’s Dora home to the jailhouse discovery. Milk bottles and cases of beef were taken from Smith Dairy and Dee's Market with a younger boy involved. The group is also tied to a burglary and other looting reported in the area.
