Norway Pioneer Celebrated Birthday Anniversary
Joo Barklow longtime Norway resident was honored May 1 with a family birthday celebration shared by Miss Lets Robison and relatives. Attendants included Roy Robison and daughters, plus Barklow siblings Mavis Caroline Cleta Thelma Valene Keller. Barklow, born near the Jamet Barklow ranch, arrived with his family from Iowa as a child and advanced to the University of Oregon then taught at Gravelford. He later served as county school superintendent and married Louise Randle. eight children survive, including Walter Barklow of Myrtle Point and Irwin Barklow of Corvallis, with Mrs Roy Robison and Mrs J C Keller of Norway among survivors. The Barklow dairy business has long anchored the Norway community.

Bancroft Man Fractures Leg in Range Accident
Lyle Hardman of Bancroft fractured his left leg when his horse slipped on the W A Clayton place Thursday morning. Neighbors assisted after the fall and he was rushed to Knife River hospital in Coquille where doctors reduced the fracture and he rested easier at press time.

Fire Suspects Apprehended in Agness District Fire
A man caused fire in the Agness district on April 23 amid a dry spell. Forest Ranger Vondis Miller and assistant Laverne Jess pursued two men exiting the area and questioned them. Warrants were issued for Carl Miller of Gold Beach and John Pickle of Agness, arraigned before U S Commissioner Fred Caughell, with binding to the Federal Grand Jury for further action.
